Kerry's voting record and interest group ratings.

I have, at times, bitched myself about the guy. But in this episode I think it prudent that the media and people keep their heads screwed on straight, and it only takes less then 60 seconds to find out how much he has done FOR the American people. He is not perfect, but you compare his record to that of bush and all the others around and he stands out like a damned thousand watt beacon.

Kerry is not the problem here, the media and lazy voters are. And we know whose side the media is on....boo hoo, he misspoke. What do people so often say 'it is not what you say but what you do that matters'? Well, click away - then look up some repubs and compare/contrast.

NOT TO FREAKIN MENTION THIS ONE SMALL DAMNED ITEM: KERRY WAS EDUCATED AND SERVED IN VIETNAM - so was he insulting himself? are people really that dumb??

2. Hell yes & thank you
I'm proud to have voted for this guy 2 years ago & 2 years hence, if he's the nominee, I'll be proud to vote for him again. I want President Gore to run again in '08, but if the party nominates Kerry, damn right he has my vote and whatever support I can muster.

3. k&r - two more votes to put this on the greatest - time for people to get real
Kerry led the committee on terrorism and narcotrafficking in the 80s,
he investigated BCCI "the Bank of Crooks and Criminals",
during the 2004 campaign he said "this is the biggest bunch of crooks and criminals I've ever seen" (paraphrasing),
etc etc etc

15. I wish I were, then I would be wealthy and my worries less :)
Jim Baccus was a pretty cool actor as well IMHO. His many voice overs will never be forgotten, and it seems a shame he has been so typecast, but I don't that really as all bad - he made an impression and it has lasted until now.

6. This whole thing was so predictable...
...I've been offline all day and realized this was being blown up into a big flamefest from the MSM -- talk about stepping back through the looking glass.

So I cannot say, not having read to deep into it (and frankly not intending to) that people are missing this point, so I'll refrain from saying "What people don't seem to realize" because it may have been realized:

This is yet another case of Republican projection.

The Rove machine did not like the news stories about Bush dragging down R candidates. So they manufactured an equivalent story -- Kerry is supposed to be in their warped minds the analogue to Bush, and the whole idea that "Kerry just lost dems the election" was already on talking heads' notepads well before the first copies of the stories ran. That's the real payload, the cargo of this story if you will -- the story is "Kerry dragged down the party" not "Kerry said something silly." That they had to lie about what Kerry said should be a dead giveaway.

Republican's desperately, desperately, desperately need the people to think "Democrats and Republicans are all the same, there's no difference."

That's why the ridiculous Reid stories just when Hastert was in trouble. That's why the "Democrats don't have a plan for Iraq" in the midst of criticisms of BushCo for not having a good plan for Iraq. That's why the Sequoia/Chavez story when Diebold and ES&S are finally getting press coverage. Just about everything the MSM pushes -- even Lou -- is aimed at convincing people that there is no real difference between the major parties.

As to WHY it is so overridingly important to push the "all politicians are slime there's no hope" theme, WHY it is there number one objective in their PR campaigns, well that would probably take a political scientist to offer a qualified opinion on, and it would probably be a book length opinion.

That these things are done in a sort of oxymoronic "hamfisted yet subtle" manner means that is where they are weak, and the blood is in the water over there for any Dem sharks smart enough to jump on it. So if you want to know what the most important message to push before the election it is: They lie; we are NOT like them. Just say stuff like "Democratic politicians help the poor, Republican politicians help themselves." Over and over and over. Or the joke about the Democrat, Libertarian and Republican on the titanic (D: "save the kids!" L: "screw the kids!" R: "do we have time?"). Or whatever.

And the second most important point to push on is to continue to grind the bootheel into the "Bush is going to cost Rs the election" theme, because it is obviously causing them oodles of problems inside their party.

9. I agree this was predictable
Bush is incompetent at everything except knowing how to send
the MSM off on a false trail. They will take the bait every
time when he dangles outrageous insults about Dems for them to
amplify in a headline. I'm glad Kerry told him off finally,
but I wish he had not done it now. He has nothing to do with
this election and should not be taking the focus off the
candidates who are running and who have been working so hard.

10. Republicans would say he wasn't smart enough to get out of Vietnam
You know like the true American patriots who had "other priorities" such as George (AWOL) Bush and Five Deferments Dick Cheney.

16. "Kerry was educated and served in Vietnam"
What that's about would never occur to anybody in the junta, and especially not Bush.
