Why should anyone care what John Kerry has to say? |
|
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 08:48 AM by Bleachers7
Unless you are from Massachusetts, it's meaningless. Families are struggling. This government is a failure. People are just trying to survive the next 2 years. We all know that it is George Bush that needs to apologize to Americans for Iraq and Katrina. People are just trying to get an increased minimum wage, food on the table, shelter over their heads, dignity, work, and peace. They can choose a lame duck Bush rubber stamp do nothing congress or they can choose Democrats. Democrats will increase the minimum wage, implement the 9/11 commission recommendations, protect social security, balance the budget, and much more. It's a no brainer.

1. Exactly. He's not running for anything. One news cycle and it's over. |
|
But Iraq isn't over. That's what needs to be emphasized.

2. This is the same crap they pulled in 2004, and we need to |
|
NOT TALK ABOUT IT!
It's completely irrelevant.

3. That's the big secret. They don't. They see what is going on. |
|
They know what kind of liars, crooks and thugs are running the country, they see bush** and chainsaw in a continual pattern of either lying to cover their asses or brain dead denial of the reality of life on this planet.
The media is stirring up this pot. They've had nothing bad to report about the dems this who election season, it's been corrupt and perverted lying repubs all the way. Now they got their tempest in a teapot that they can keep going every day just to muddy up the waters and fuck with the election.
I quit listening to that crap about five seconds after I heard it the first time. I'm not ignorant. I know what he meant. I also know that the military is taking people in their 50s & 60s, the mentally ill, the not as bright as one should be, the handicapped, and the psychotic. And since that is now the case, what the fuck did he lie about.
It was a mis-statement to begin with that actually happens to be the truth. We're even recruiting FOREIGNERS for cripe's sake. They take their chance of staying alive in the meatgrinder that is Iraq, they get citizenship. What a deal!
Everybody needs to get a grip.

There are plenty of right-wing nutjobs who have said things FAR more outlandish than this. I think people are immune to it. When we hear that Sphinctorum or Cheney or Dumbya has said the latest ignorant diatribe, we shrug and say "There he goes again." This has no legs. In fact, it's already gone. Eyes on the prize, folks.... 6 days away!

I will defend it. I'm no longer playing the "Well, shoot our own to save face" crowd. I'm a Veteran and damned proud of it. The target of his attack was scrub and everyone knows it. They're just trying to deflect it, like they always do. In addition, look at the corners the Defense Department has been cutting to get close to making quota.
If people have a problem with it I'm a member of the F**K 'EM Brigade.
I have found in the past on issues, when I say I've served and show them the proof, they shut the f**k up really damned fast.

Would have you believe Kerry was wrong to talk about how if you are a bad student like bush you may end up stuck, just like bush is, in Iraq.
Bush is lost in Iraq. He was all for stay the course, now he's just lost. Evidence of his being lost is that he now says it was never about stay the course, and he does admit that he will never leave Iraq as long as he is president. Lost.

7. This country thrives on scandal and contrived scandal. It |
|
doesn't give a darn about democracy except as an empty, hypocritical rhetorical export by the right wing.
We love sports, malls, all forms of toys, crime, deadly foods and beverages and hot motors and metal.
We are smart about what goodies there are to buy and ignorant about how we are being bought and sold and how the right wing is dismantling it and shipping and trading it away.
How many people know what Diebold, ES&S, Sequoia-Smartmatic is and what it does?
How many people even know or care how the right wing twisted what Kerry said (and arranged for Snow to appear on the Washington Journal this morning on behalf of the WH to spin it further)?
This used to be a play fair country. The right wing has brought us down to the depths of crime and filthy ethics that are in perfect anti-thesis to the Ten Commandments and Golden Rule; the Constitution and Bill of Rights.
So is your child going to Sunday School this weekend? For what? Is your child going to be told by some coach about sportsmanship this week? For what?
Losing faith in this country - we are lousy caretakers. Only some are doing all the work to save it. We are at risk of becoming a military dictatorship. Too depressing? Truth hurts. Keep fighting for all those who look away.

9. Most people shouldn't care one bit, but every election cycle |
|
the 24-7 echo machines pounce on anything that will give them a bit more to talk about..and of course every politician in the counrty cannot resist the temptation to grab some of the oxygen for themselves.
I'm sure that Kerry is still seething about '04, and probably wishes he could have a Mulligan. He's desperately trying to "stay out there" so that when '08 rolls around, he's in place again.
What irks me is this.. We don;t NEED our politicians to be "funny". Leave that to the comedians. Even a "cute story" becomes as funny as a heart attack after it's been on tv 75 times as they show the smae canned speech..over and over and over.
What we need are people who can think on their feet and speak extemporaneously, on a variety of subjects, and NOT feel the need to have a "humorous story" for every occasion.
We are living in particualrly UNfunny times, and our leaders need to stick to the stuff we need them to know.. If we want funny, we have many places to look.
Humor is an odd commodity. What one person thinks is hilarious, is just plain stupid to someone else, and downright offensive to someone else. If a politician has to spend days or weeks "explaining" his jokes, he needs to just STOP "trying" to be funny. People who are truly funny, have the knack of being funny without looking like they are trying to BE funny.
