103! 103! 103!
It's November 1rst. Last month was the deadliest month for our soldiers in almost 2 years. Why isn't that the top story on all the news shows today? Why aren't there a brazilion threads on DU about this? Why aren't we emailing every media outlet that is covering "that other story" and asking them why they are ignoring the deaths of our soldiers?

8. I know.
I couldn't believe how long this list was for JUST ONE MONTH. I thought I must have made a mistake so I went back and counted all the names.

This is the story that Bush doesn't want us to be talking about today. I can't believe we are accommodating him.

His lack of support, no, his outright hostility toward our troops has caused this. He must want the terrorists to win!!!:sarcasm:

9. post this list on blogs! We can't depend on the MSM, you know that
Election 2006: It's the War, Stupid
103. That's the number of American soldiers killed in Iraq last month. The Muslim holy month of Ramadan continues to be the bloodiest part of the calendar for our occupying forces. Regardless of Dick Cheney's belief it's based on our election schedule (does this illustrate our complete lack of cultural understanding or what?) the violence arges out of control.

Americans know the Bush Administration botched this war and they know Congress provided no oversight and accountability. They're angry and they're getting angier by the day. November 7th is going to be a bloodbath for Republican candidates. Almost every poll shows undecideds breaking for Democrats, especially those against the war. The momentum is growing daily and high profile GOP leaders like Rick Santorum can't escape their close associations to the failed policies.

The newest polls put the Junior Senator behind by either 10 or 17 points. The Keystone Poll shows a jump from 5 to 17 for Bob Casey which is incredible. Frankly it's difficult to believe. The undecided voters are deciding and it isn't good news for the GOP. In recent years the trend has been for these uncertain voters to break for the incumbent. It's up to the challengers to make a compelling case for change. In 2006 it's the voters telling the challengers they're ready for compelling change.

All this is happening in spite of the fact most Americans still don't really understand the depth of the problems in Iraq. They haven't seen the images, the desperation, the carnage. Our media is more concerned with missing white women, car chases, airplanes with stuck landing gears. Very few follow the independent and foreign media for the full truth and yet they're still outraged. This is telling.

Post it everywhere! Hell, I'm tempted to post it in every Kerry thread on DU. This could be the top story today if we hadn't lost our focus.

17. So many sad stories.
I was looking at a site the other night that had pictures and stories about all the soldiers that have died. So many of them were recently married or new fathers that hadn't even seen their new babies yet. I cried so hard reading all their stories. Sometimes I just want to scream but I'm afraid that if I start, I won't stop.

Sgt. Willsun Mock was commemorated just a few days ago.

The 1AD/1ID have had a lot of casualties. The 1AD was extended.

I've been watching the 172nd Stryker Brigade, which was extended while they were on the tarmack ready to fly home. (Some were already home.) When they got the news of the extension, soldiers started throwing up, literally.

On edit, the Stryker Brigade has lost 5, I believe, since the extension.

15. Interesting Thing About Kerry' Comments
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 11:54 AM by mentalsolstice
This list illustrates perfectly that Kerry was targeting B*sh, not the troops. Look at the number of officers on this list. These men and women went to college, studied hard and became commissioned officers of the U.S. military, and they got killed in Iraq. As a former officer himself, Kerry knows that a college degree is required for a commission. Therefore, in this context, his remarks could have only been targeted at B*sh. As a side note, I worked for the Navy, as a civilian, for 4+ years, and I knew plenty of enlisted who had college degrees, but for whatever reason, chose not to accept a commission.
