Where the HELL is Howard Dean...??? (re: Kerry/Ford)
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 10:45 AM by hexola
Is Howard Dean on Vacation?

Dean should have had John Kerry locked away in box somewhere with tape over his mouth - and kept him there until Nov 8...then Kerry could do all the grandstanding he wants...

Now - FORD - makes it even worse -

Hello Howard...can't we get a BIT more coordinated here!!!!

1. Kerry doesn't listen to Dean
He's always done his own thing.

Right now Dean is probably trying to help all the Dem 2006 candidates figure out a strategy for damage control and staying on message.

This isn't about Kerry its about Dem 2006 candidates and helping them win.

3. Kerry said nothing wrong. Why should he be kept in a box?

The RNC has great control over the media. They would have done this regardless, they were waiting for something, anything they could misconstrue (with the help of the media). And they found it.

Kerry did NOT say anything regarding the US troops. The president didn't study hard, didn't work hard and he is stuck in Iraq. That's what Kerry said.

8. First, he's not a candidate
Dem candidates need to be in the spotlight, not Kerry.

10. Because he's a devisive figure and he's not running for anything...
So who cares what he thinks...?

I saw the video - Clearly he was talking about Bush and not the troops - but in print - that distinction can be lost...

4. Ford is looking at a loss when he thought he was looking at a win . . .
He's jittery. Let's not blow this up like the MSM.

And re: Kerry's remarks, hundreds of Dems are out campaigning. Slips of the tongue are inevitable. An MSM terrified of losing audience share because there are isufficient high points in their coverage is grasping at "news." It's not at all surprising.

Sentient people can tell what's going on here. As long as Kerry continues to show backbone, this one breaks our way, IMO.

21. "looking at a win" possible, but latest poll I saw had Ford down by
eight-points.

25. I think this one was slipping away as early as the end of last week.
I'm actually in Tennessee on business right now, and the area I'm in (Knoxville/Oak Ridge) seems solidly Corker territory.

Too bad -- Ford is pretty appealing, even if I'm not sure he's actually a Democrat.

28. Not on my side of Knoxville.
You couldn't find a Corker sign if you hunted for one.

You must be out in West Knoxville with all the richie whites. Us middle-class whites on the North side of town are voting for Ford. Please drive over to Fountain City and Old North Knoxville for a sea of blue Ford signs.

BTW, East Tennessee is the most conservative side of the state. Corker probably will win it - but Ford's got a chance in the middle and west sides of the state.

29. I'll check it out . . .
You're right about West Knoxville -- the Corker signs are huge and common, the Ford signs small and infrequent.

5. All Dean needed to say was that Bush is getting so desparate
because GOP are losing - end of story.

You begin to wonder whether som e Democrats WANT the GOP to win?

There's a lot more GOP spin coming out over the next several days, it all has to be dealt with.

16. He's should be the Anti-Rove...
As DNC head...He really has to assume some sort of role as Chief Campaign Strategist...

I'm sure Rove "babysits" - and they win..

18. Here's your answer, I doubt you'll like it
Far from agreeing Kerry should be gagged until the election, Dean speaks up on Kerry's behalf.

And no, as a campaign manager myself I do not want some party official showing up and telling my candidate and I how it's gonna be.

How I wish our more passionate commentators would get more invovled in RL politics!

13. Fighting the anti-Kerry faction
Who are thrilled to do anything to push him out of the way. Howard has a fine line to walk, it's not his fault.

What some folks don't get is that if we lose JK, we lose the strongest liberal voice for the next 2 years. It'll be Blue Dog centrism right down the line.

22. And how did Rahm Emmanuel stop John Kerry?
"Dean is useless" if we win a majority a lot of credit will be his for his 50-state strategy which is bearing fruit because the GOP is having to use resources in races they used to take for granted.

15. you can find out where DEAN is if you really cared about that
by checking his schedule wherever such things are posted.

but you just came to criticice Dean for not doing something that is NOT his job at this point, ie, criticizing individual dems who say things that blow up into media frenzies.

Dean is doing what ought to be done in his case, which is helping dems candidates for election.

there are enough people blathering about all this already.

19. Wake up and get a dose of reality
Howard Dean is the head of the DNC who has developed a 50-state strategy which is bearing fruit because many seats which we never thought we would have an opportunity to win are now close. John Kerry is a US Senator and he doesn't do what Howard Dean tells him to do. In fact, as the last nominee of our party John Kerry is the titular head of the Democratic party and he is free to do what he wants and campaign where he would like and say what he feels. Howard Dean doesn't have a thing to do with it.
