"Sen. Kerry's remarks were poorly worded and just plain stupid," said Montana Senate President Jon Tester, a Democrat trying to unseat GOP Sen. Conrad Burns. "He owes our troops and their families an apology."

"I'm sorry he did what he did. But I think the issue ... we want to make sure it doesn't confuse the subject of the war in Iraq," Democratic Rep. Ben Cardin, running for Senate in Maryland, said on CNN.

He had a different intent with the remark, but that's not the way it came out and the way it did come out caused a stir. There's nothing wrong with apologizing for something like that, and it probably would've stemmed some of these goofy demands for an apology.

deal coming from democrats. So many of them are purely reactionary to whatever the Rove strategy is instead of being proactive and willing to criticize the opposition. I don't like any of the dems saying those words and I thank god I don't have to vote for them since I'm not from those states. Don't start a flame war against me because I'm happy I don't. I didn't say I wouldn't if I lived there. It's just disgusting IMO.
