Cheney blaming Iraq violence on US elections
These criminals will do anything to avoid taking responsibility for their miserable failure of a war

http://news.bbc.co.uk/2/hi/americas/6101178.stm

US Vice-President Dick Cheney has said that insurgents in Iraq have increased their attacks in order to influence the upcoming US mid-term elections.
He blamed a recent rise in violence on al-Qaeda and others trying to "break the will of the American people".

"They're very sensitive to the fact that we've got an election scheduled," he said, claiming the militants monitor US public opinion via the internet.

2. Perfect. We just cancel all future elections,
and victory is guaranteed. It worked for Hitler, right? Right?

4. He says that every cycle. John Edwards called him on it in the VP debates
Cheney was old and out of touch before he became VP, he's even more so now. He would be pitiable if he hadn't slaughtered so many innocent people.

that botched talks with the insurgents using insulting Iraqi puppets as intermediaries backfired and that the usual rousting and special missions and round-ups did not lower the insurgents' profile. Both strategies were expressly to influence US elections and seems to have been the pattern in the past. Outside of their puppetry road map to Iraqi self-government there has been no real initiative to really deal with the real problems of the occupation and most of everything is solely for the continued entrenchment of US interests notably in using Iraqi oil for private corporate interests.

In that scenario Cheney could still be right. By the Iraqi insurgents not varying the rhythm of violence to the benefit of the WH during election they are changing the election dynamic. No matter how you look at it and without proof of intentionality, the wedding of the two situations is solely the WH responsibility and to complain about the homeland invasion resister side not setting the room temperature for the WH election season is a grumpy black joke of the most malignant and absurd caliber.

9. he's right...
...the insurgency couldn't possibly be about anything else. i'm sure they're looking culling through zogby, quinnipiac, gallup, etc. and going, "we need paccione to beat musgrave in the colorado 4th, so let's go plant some ied's".

:sarcasm: for those who couldn't tell

10. oh but of course!
I just know that if I'm ever without drinking water, electricity, a home, and under constant attack then I would certainly sit and contemplate when to join the insurgency. When are the American mid terms? Can my actions help the Democratic Party take over the House this year? How will that affect Bush's future policy when it comes to destroying my country? What does some freak in a cave in Northern Pakistan whom I have never known or listened to in the first place want me to do? Hmmm....so much to ponder, so little time. :eyes:

I'm really shocked that Dick Cheney would use such scurrilous tactics.

13. He'll lay another enormous turd, cackle about it, and then disappear
for several days. He'll never apologize for it or open himself up to questions about it. Al Qaeda was linked to Saddam, the insurgents are in their last throes, dunking someone under water on a board is not waterboarding, and the guerrilla fighters in Iraq want the Democrats to win the election.
