2. Read his press conference -- He kicked serious repug butt
(and by the way, it is still 2006)

http://www.johnkerry.com/news/releases/release.html?id=34

<snip>

No way. It disgusts me that a bunch of these Republican hacks who've never worn the uniform of our country are willing to lie about those who did.

It's over.

This administration has given us a Katrina foreign policy: mistake upon mistake upon mistake; unwilling to give our troops the armor that they need; unwilling to have enough troops in place; unwilling to give them the Humvees that they deserve to protect them; unwilling to have a coalition that is adequate to be able to defend our interests.

Our own intelligence agency has told us they're creating more terrorists, not less. They're making us less safe, not more.

I think Americans are sick and tired of this game. These Republicans are afraid to stand up and debate a real veteran on this topic. And they're afraid to debate -- you know, they want to debate straw men because they're afraid to debate real men.

10. Agreed
His response is one of the reasons I will more strongly support him in 2008. I think it also goes to show that there needs to be more changes in the US besides just the elected officials.

7. Yes. Unlike all those Democrats who are IMMUNE to the RW lie machine once
they and every word that comes out of their mouths are targeted.

6. ROFLMAO, nope, not when EVEN THE RW SHILL on KFI
in Los Angeles (Bill Handel) defends what Kerry said (rather vehemently, I might add) and says the RW is lying and making a big fuss over nothing.

Only a fool would look at Kerry's word in context and think it was offensive to our troops. Out of context, the RW wants everybody to get all offended by it. But people aren't that stupid. Only Bush is.

12. .
I hope you are right that the people will get it. I read that Kerry talked about the same topic previously on several occasions so it's not just a lame excuse that he "botched" it.
Meanwhile, Iraq is still a mess with over 2800 dead American soldiers, casualties in the tens of thousands and probably around half a million dead Iraqis.
But all that matters at the moment was a one-liner with an unfortunate wording? If Bush can call it a comma in history, one can forgive Kerry for a poor wording, too.

13. just the opposite
I was so not wanting a repeat of Kerry 2004.

And yesterday showed he's learned his lesson.

I'd be willing to support a Kerry 08, in a way I wouldn't have two days ago.

9. .
Finally a little perspective.
I was away for some hours, I come back and it's gotten even worse with this hysteria! How many threads about this incident now? That's unreal. Seriously, is this the most important topic for America? Because if it is, then I consider America really blessed.

11. Fact that his badly told joke taken out of context it EXACTLY why no senator
should be the DEM candidate for President in 08!

Senators have to make compromise votes on bills because of riders... those votes CAN ALWAYS be taken out of context and used against ANY candidate in a Presidential race.

Leave DEM Senators on the Hill where they can be of help. Go for an executive for presidential candidate material.

Look at the history. When was the last time a DEM Senator was elected President? It's been a long while and the whole nature of American politics has change since those days.

24. Gee, disparage DEMs much?
Look into Janet Napolitano of AZ while you're getting educated, which it seems might be helpful if you have such a low opinion of a group you must not know much about.

25. No - I disparage the idea that we must find a BLANK SLATE because we are
scared of the big bad Right Wing Lie Machine.

Face it, they will lie about anybody.

I would rather have a Dem with experience in Foreign Policy and how Washington works.

19. Good points, but..
I would like to see Kerry as president where he would have all the tools of the Executive Branch (DOJ, DHS) at his disposal for investigations into corruption. Much like his investigations into BCCI.
