Full video Tribute to the Fallen by DFA Miami...get your hankies ready.
This is amazing in the middle of Miami. It was covered by a Spanish language station as a documentary. They have recently completed the full 10 minute video in English. They called it Arlingon Miami.

The juxtaposition of the tombstone exhibit and the busy Miami street has a devastating impact on the senses.

Tribute to the Fallen

From October 14th through October 16th, Democracy for America Miami together with Miami Veterans for Peace put on a moving tribute to the American fallen in Iraq. This memorial, dubbed "Arlington Miami", provoked powerful emotions in all those who paid a visit to the downtown Miami park where this exhibit was displayed.

Luckily, a local Miami documentary film crew volunteered to film this display and capture the sentiments of many passersby. They recently released a seven minute version in Spanish and English which they posted on Youtube. Now they have completed a ten minute all English version which must be seen as it brings home a powerful message about this war with no clear plan.

The video is from YouTube and is about 10 minutes.

2. The video is up in the Video section.
But I will leave my post because it tells more, and I might add more to it. I have some snippets from the Miami Herald I might add.

The guys who put the video together did a great job.

3. A letter to the editor says it should remain as a permanent tribute.

From the Miami Herald section, not online that I can find. I cropped it because it moved me so.

4. Miami Herald article about the tribute they also set up at Biscayne.
This must be another one called Arlington South. I can only imagine how much work went into these tributes.

http://www.miami.com/mld/miamiherald/15762817.htm

"Manuel Valdes was driving through downtown Miami on Saturday when the sea of white cardboard tombstones off Biscayne Boulevard caught his eye.

The 24-year-old Iraq War veteran stopped and made his way through the rows in search of one name: Spc. Kevin A. Cuming, who was killed in action.

''I came to find my friend,'' he said.

Valdes, who served in the Army alongside Cuming, wears a silver bracelet with the name of his fallen comrade, his hometown and the date of his death -- Aug. 21, 2004.

He was among the many who paused Saturday at downtown Miami's Bayfront Park for a moment of reflection amid the 2,500 headstones erected to honor U.S. soldiers killed in Iraq.

The memorial, called Arlington South by its organizers, triggered in some passersby a sense of awe. In others, anger."
