Halloween in New York - political costumes
Edited on Wed Nov-01-06 05:32 PM by Erechtheides
I walked with a group of my friends in the annual Village Parade in NYC last night. Among the costumes I saw:

-an Emergency Contraception pill
-several packs of Birth Control pills
-a Border Fence
-many, many Diebold voting machines
-Bush in diapers
-Bush on a leash held by a millionaire in a top hat
-Bush as Curious George
-Darth Cheney
-Dick Cheney with a blood-spattered hunting outfit and rifle
-Dick Cheney in a dominatrix outfit

There was also a very impressive giant ant, but I don't think it was a political statement.

I love my city.

(edit: This is my first post on DU; I hope it's in the right forum.)

2. I was there for Halloween last year.
I wish I was there this year to see some of those costumes!

I however, am going there next Wednesday for the NYC comedy festival and to party it up! I hope I can go there and celebrate a DEM victory!!

5. I went as Guy Fawke
Some of the older kids shouted, "Hey, it's the 'V' guy!"

8. V!
I forgot to mention that one.
There were lots of those about, and I got a thrill every time I saw them.

7. Welcome to DU !
:toast:

Didn't this used to be televised? I remember seeing it one year here in Va. It was quite fun to watch.

I've been to the Macy's Parade, Times Square for NYE and for 4th of July fireworks! I've got to put this on my list for next year !
