If the Republican Party and the Democratic Party are the same...
Then why is Bush fighting so hard to keep the Republicans in the majority?

The parties are NOT the same, we hear it all the time, but it's not true.

So get out there and vote for the Party which will force accountability upon the White House.

2. "Politicians all the same" is something we hear every time a Republican gets in trouble
I don't think that's a coincidence.
It's always drummed out by the Repubs after a new scandal to claim that Democrats are no better than Foley, Cunningham, and Ney.

It's just that there doesn't seem to be any evidence to the claim.

3. As a very libertarian friend of mine says
the only difference is where your tax dollars are spent.

We both earn a good living and pay our share, when I explain that I would rather have my tax dollars help the needy than help the rich he agrees, but his point is that neither party should be taking the taxes to buy support from their base. That is the comparison that makes them the same to some.

4. That's a) not true, and b)a very big difference indeed.
Firstly, there are a great many differences that don't come down to taxation and spending - gay rights, foreign policy, abortion, and so on.

Secondly, "what the government spends its money on" covers a great deal of the business of government, so even if that was the only difference there'd still be relatvively little in common.

6. Well, and also where the government spending comes from.
Democrats are more honest about taxes. Republicans just put it on the national credit card, and put us deeper into debt with the Chinese.
