Umm
I was looking at CSpan about 20 minutes ago.Isd it the vote? Are they CONFIRMING alito ?
There were yes and no votes on the blue sidescreen. They had senator names and Y or N nest to whatever name and on top it it said alitos confirmation. Last I looked 55 to 35.

Can the Filibuster still happen?

The republicans were crowing like it's a done deal.

I felt sickened so I turned it off.

What now.

1. No, that's really a tally of their 'intended' votes next week...
There's a cloture vote scheduled on Monday at 4:30pm. I'm not even sure that a time is set for the actual Alito vote yet...

3. No, this is not the vote...this is basically a "look see".The vote is
Tuesday. This is still the debate. Kerry can still filibuster and he has pledged to. Fear not...not yet. Continue to email Senators. Call...do what you can.

4. I can't answer that question, but I did hear on the news
clip when I was listening to Randi Rhodes about an hour ago that the Repugs were wanting a pre-vote in preparation for bringing in the vote by next Tuesday--the same day as the State of the Union speech. Maybe this was something along the liines of a pre-vote by the Repugs?

5. No. They've been showing that all day. It's based on what the Sens
said during their speeches, of direct commitment on how they are going to vote.

Last I heard the vote is to be Tuesday.

6. Shew. I was really pissed off
Considering the push to force the vote to be sooner. Goddammit I hate these neocon bullies.

7. If I were them, I'd be looking for the 3000 missing from Katrina
rather than crowing about some judge who could conceivably meet with some unforseen accident, health problem or act of God in the coming year... NOTHING is forever, and crowing because you "think" you have a puppet on the SC FOREVER is shortsightedness at its best.
