A simple question: Alito is obviously going to be confirmed.
Why keep using up so much energy on this topic?

1. Because we have to try and stop this idiot from being confirmed!
Every little bit helps! At least we can say we tried!

6. O.K., I can respect that.
I just hope that once he is confirmed we move on to more strategic battles.

23. That is if we are ALLOWED to move on to more "strategic" battles...
This IS the strategic battle. If we wait until later, we might not have a democracy left to fight these battles in. That's how important this fight is!

3. because it's just so stupid and crazy!
I just can't believe this rightwing creep is really confirmable.

He's horrible! Truly horrible!

It makes me think that the Dems are really Reeps most of the time.

What's the difference between the two parties except an occasional
kefuffle to make it seem like there are two parties when there's really
only one.

5. A simple answer: why are you repeating Corporate media talking points?
The energy is justifies by the significance of the moment: if you can delay dictatorship one month, you'll not have lived in vain.

I don't care to debate numbers here.

I think uniting for this cause is a great way to show the Repubs that they are on notice. We can overcome and we must!

15. Why use our energy voting?
They aren't counted correctly anyway....
Seems if we used this line of thought we might as well just fold up and go home.
I'm fighting it because it is a worthwhile battle with the highest stakes possible.
If we win, we keep our democracy. If we lose, we surrender to fascism.
I don't want my grandkids to ask me 50 years from now why I allowed that happen without fighting.

If we had a bigger part of the population voting, we wouldn't have the mess we have now!

Edited on Thu Jan-26-06 08:59 PM by calipendence
show up for their games when it is "obvious" that they will lose! Same difference! Does not showing up get them more respect? NO! That's what we're talking about!

34. If we take that attitude, the other side gets everything without a fight
Think of how much stronger the Democrats would be right now if they had stood tall and unified against the misguided invasion of Iraq.

But nooooooooo. Too many Democrats decided it either wasn;t strategicalkly wise, or that it was a "done deal" and they had to keep the "powder dry" for more winnable fights.

As result, the Democrats now have very little ability to say "We told you so."

Same thing will be the case with Alito down the line, after the American people have become shocked and appalled at the loss of civil liberties, etc.
