Iraq-bound soldier goes AWOL again
http://edition.cnn.com/2006/US/11/01/soldier.awol.ap/

LOUISVILLE, Kentucky (AP) -- A U.S. Army soldier who fled to Canada rather than return to Iraq has disappeared again.

Pvt. Kyle Snyder, 23, of Colorado Springs, Colorado, told The Associated Press he was supposed to return by bus to Fort Leonard Wood in Missouri on Tuesday.

But he didn't go.

He said he went AWOL after Fort Knox officials in Kentucky told him he would be sent back to his unit, the 94th Engineer Battalion.

1. I'd do the same in his boots
They must be awful desperate for warm bodies over there if they're dispensing with courts martial and will just send him back to his battalion. Disgusting.

Run, Kyle, run!!

2. I have the most respect for someone who has the gonads to do what is right
no way shape or form is it right that we are killing and destroying the Iraqi and their homeland.

3. I agree with him following his
heart, but what concerns me is why the DOD keeps pursuing this young man. If he doesn't want to go, why make him.

The flipside of this is I don't want him to be part of a platoon where this lack of conviction and motivation may put him at further risk as well as the people he would be fighting with.

That is a very practical reason why they need to let him stay home.
