3 days of news wasted on Kerry's comment, how conveeeenient. |
|
This way the repubs don't have to talk about how horribly they have failed, and how corrupt they are, and what liars they are, and how many dead soldiers there are, or how many hundreds of thousands of dead Iraqis, and health care, and important domestic issues.
How very, very convenient for the republicans and the republican owned media.
No, I'm not saying karl rove orchestrated it, but he obviously exploited it, just like the republicans and nine eleven.
I'm not fooled, I've already voted in the most important mid term election in decades.

1. It's non-stop Kerry on cnn. |
|
Who would have imagined that a man not running for office would get so fucking much attention. I don't know how much more of the media I can take. Will they ever do their job again or are they lost forever?

To blast off on Kerry. For now, I am holding myself back. Needless to say that he should notbe allowed to run for president again.

2. I think Rove orchestrated it... |
|
..and I'm not one of those Rove is God who controls everything people, but this time, I really think he did.
From what I read, the media was contacted before the chimp's remarks to let them know that he would be making a statement about Kerry.
I'm fully convinced that there is army of yellow elephants, under Rove's direction, sitting in a room studying media feed 24/7 to parse out anything that can be manipulated.

5. Yes, he did. Tweety said as much, said he got tons of |
|
rethug press releases prior to us hearing anything about this. It was a planned response from start to finish. The war machine was working overtime on this to distract from the war. Clever, aren't they.

4. AND 3 days of NO boost for republicans |
|
they were idiots to go after it.. they knew it was a non-issue but they couldn't help themselves. They've truly gone rabid.. and that's what the world's been seeing for more than the past few days. They don't have a single issue to stand on and voters know it.
I think the whole thing was hilarious.. and just proves again what stupid mean-spirited fucks the republicans are. Good riddance.

propaganda.
The "mainstream media?" Might as well read the National Enquirer to get your news.

My rw mother will not admit that Rush Limbaugh is mean. "You have no sense of humor," she tells me. It is a major point of contention between us, that she listens to his hateful spew. She loves O'Reilley. Whatever they tell her to believe, she will.

3 days of talking about Iraq
I see the news people this way... they have to do rove's bidding at times but then they balance it with slams on bushco. That way when rove comes crying to them they show rove what they've done for him - in this case Kerry bashing -- and it gets rove off their backs.
In this case, while bashing Kerry, they have also showed some of the horrors of Iraq. In that regard Kerry has brought Iraq back to the six-o'clock news.

8. let's change the framework - maybe it is NOT a bad thing. |
|
every poll, every conversation and every newspaper article I see lists IraqNam first, the economy second and a whole list of other GOP sins and sinners 3d. Only the TV talking heads, radionazi land and Drudge actually care about Kerry's words.
MAYBE, just maybe Kerry has done us a favor. First, it energized the GOP attack dogs on an non-issue. Kerry is not running for anything. He has no dog in the fight. He is disliked by as many people who like him. Whatever he does or says is small potatos compared to FoleyGate, IraqNam and other burning issues. I predict that his words will have no impact on the election. To the contrary, it is to our advantage that he managed to bring out the wolves in sheep's clothing so readily. The public sees just how willing the GOP is to attack rather than solve problems; to insult, rather than admit mistakes.
Also, we have some new, inexperienced blood out there. Tammy Duckworth, Jim Webb, and others are in the line of political fire for the first time, at least to this degree. So far, they have done admirably. Lamont's ads are funny and exciting. Duckworth is winning in a heavily GOP district. Even in Montana we have a chance to push out a neanderthal GOoPer. This nonflap with Kerry has given them breathing room, time to see the opposition for what it is, and prepares them for personal attacks that are bound to come the next 4 days. In effect, Kerry deflected (accidently) the GOP war machine from the targets that really matter - our Dem candidates.

10. Of course it was exploited. That's why Kerry shouldn't have |
|
tried to be funny and should have out and out stated the President is a dumb loser and doesn't care about the poor getting killed in Iraq. Instead Kerry flubbed it like 2004 and the Dems are in trouble again...

But, my misspeaks (is that a word) aren't used to fuel the propaganda fire to keep the Ruling Regime inviolate. And please note I did not say Kerry should not have said anything but he should have plainly stated Bush doesn't care about the troops.
So instead we get the height of evil irony. The Rulers who couldn't give a shit how many Americans (or Iraqis) die over there get to claim a decorated Veteran and, by extension, his whole party don't give a fuck.
And who suffers?

17. They completely twisted what he said, so . . . |
|
I don't know what folks expect for our candidates to do if we don't defend them against outright lies. Any candidate can have their statements distorted from the elevation of the White House and have those distortions bandied about for a few days.

The Neo-cons are adept at engaging in power politics. Seem to be religious, seem to care about the troops, etc. Distort your opponent at all opportunities. But damn couldn't Kerry have waited a week?

It doesn't matter how carefully I said things. She was always there to distort and lie about things I said.
Maybe you will have the misfortune of that sometime.

They would only have wasted the 3 days on something else.
Btw, have any of the Repubs apologized to Michael J. Fox?

|
to most folks it was what it was . . . nothing much. But, I think the discussion will stay on Iraq now, our most effective issue. It could have just have easily turned to taxes, our most confounding one.
