Putting The Rotten, Dysfunctional, Corrupt MSM Out of It's Sordid Misery
If I could, I would murder the Traditional (MSM) Media. I would bludgeon it to death, painfully w/ a spiked club, pour salt on it, piss on it and then run it up a flagpole as a reminder to everyone what is deserved when you turn so rancid and rabidly vile.

The past three days and the whole "Kerry thing" has filled me w/ such revulsion it's a wonder I haven't been puking 24/7. We all know the details, so there's no need to rehash, but it's been a case study in ugly, destructive, biased vapidness run wild. There has hardly ever been a clearer example of the ugly bias that the MSM/Corporate media has against the Dem party. It was a conscious, willful effort on the part of many players in the MSM to do the bidding of the WH and Repubs and to try to destroy the Dems chances in this vital election by running w/ the non-story, non-stop during the last week right before the election. During a week where there were incredibly important, dramatic stories such as the highest death toll for Americans since the war started, the caving of the Maliki gov't to Sadr and the abandonment of a soldier behind enemy lines etc., the MSM runs w/ Kerry non-stop. I've never been more disgusted, more frustrated, more appalled than during this past week and I don't even really watch the MSM, but it STILL filtered through to me what was going on.

Yes, the Republicans are destructive, but they couldn't do half of what they've done w/out the conscious aiding and abetting that they have received from the MSM. The MSM, driven by greed, corruption, lust for power and intimidation has, through it's conscious and willful vapidness, brought this country to the brink of oblivion and it is only through the miracle of alternative sources of information (the internet, thank you Al Gore!!) that we may be able to pull back from that brink. And when (if) we do pull back we should never, ever forget what they have done. The institutions that make up what is known as the MSM need to be razed to the ground and gutted (yes, I'm talking to you ABC, among others). I'm not sure what this "gutting" should entail, but it needs to be done.

Thankfully, the only bright side is I don't think anyone is really buying the bullshit and I think in some ways this whole sordid episode is exposing the MSM for what it is; a tool. A vapid, disgusting, sordid, biased tool of the WH & Repbus. It's ugliness is on display for everyone to see and it's credibility is taking a huge hit (as if it had any left) and the cretins making the charges (the Repubs) have even LESS credibility, so the damage in the short run in terms of the election will be minimal, if there even is any. But in the long run, the damage has been devastating to the country, I can only hope that the MSM will continue in it's decline and ultimately pay the price for what it has wrought, although there is no price, no punishment harsh enough to make up for what it has done to this country.

12. Here's WHY media's complicit in this effort to take Kerry down, Beetwasher.
But, postKatrina and postIraq war, I doubt the public will buy the GOPs abuse of facts as much as they once did.

Kerry Seeks to Reverse FCC's "Wrongheaded Vote"

Commission Decision May Violate Laws Protecting Small Businesses; Kerry to File Resolution of Disapproval

Monday, June 2, 2003

WASHINGTON - Senator John Kerry today announced plans to file a "Resolution of Disapproval" as a means to overturn today's decision by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC) to raise media ownership caps and loosen various media cross-ownership rules.
Kerry will soon introduce the resolution seeking to reverse this action under the Congressional Review Act and Small Business Regulatory Enforcement Fairness Act on the grounds that the decision may violate the laws intended to protect America's small businesses and allow them an opportunity to compete.

As Ranking Member of the Senate Committee on Small Business and Entrepreneurship, Kerry expressed concern that the FCC's decision will hurt localism, reduce diversity, and will allow media monopolies to flourish. This raises significant concerns about the potential negative impacts the decision will have on small businesses and their ability to compete in today's media marketplace.

In a statement released earlier today regarding the FCC's decision, Kerry said:

"Nothing is more important in a democracy than public access to debates and information, which lift up our discourse and give Americans an opportunity to make honest informed choices. Today's wrongheaded vote by the Republican members of the FCC to loosen media ownership rules shows a dangerous indifference to the consolidation of power in the hands of a few large entities rather than promoting diversity and independence at the local level. The FCC should do more than rubber stamp the business plans of narrow economic interests.

"Today's vote is a complete dereliction of duty. The Commissioners are well aware that these rules greatly influence the competitive structure of the industry and protect the public's access to multiple sources of information and media. It is the Commission's responsibility to ensure that the rules serve our national goals of diversity, competition, and localism in media. With today's vote, they shirked that responsibility and have dismissed any serious discussion about the impact of media consolidation on our own democracy."

3. Yeah, That's One Step
I'm not sure that would be enough though.

The MSM needs to be replaced. Hopefully, the internet is doing that and it will, hopefully, eventually, replace Traditional Media.

5. One quibble: you'd ruin the flagpole. Perhaps,
we could put them on a pike in the town center. Otherwise - perfect!

7. I feel the same
way. I cannot even listen to the radio or t.v. as it is the same bullshit mantra...Kerry, kerry, kerry.

Here we have Iraq in a state of absolute chaos, republicans getting indicted on a weekly basis, 300+ billions wasted, 2819 dead, tens of thousands limbless or horribly scarred for life, a world that hates us, growing Christian fascism, the constitution being raped, habeas corpus dead, growing Islamic fundmentalism, and what do they want to talk about?

A stupid botched joke from a senator who is not even up for re-election.

WTF is wrong with this fucking picture?

16. Only people who can still think for themselves realize this.....
...even some who proclaim they're payin' attention and think for themselves can't see through it...it's obvious even here on DU...because I don't buy TV and rarely watch what's still free either..but it's still forcefed to me daily here regardless and I feel like projectile vomiting from just readin' some of the asinine spew around here too. x(
