US WAR A 'LOST BATTLE'

WASHINGTON: The US war in Iraq is a "lost battle" and the violence-ravaged nation's "dire" plight seems certain to see it shatter along ethnic lines, an advisor to the Saudi government is warning.

The damning analysis, unveiled in a presentation at a two-day conference on US-Arab relations here, sees violence in Iraq getting worse and alleges large-scale Iranian "interference" there is set to grow.

"It is already a lost battle," said Nawaf Obaid, managing director of the Saudi National Security Assessment project, at the annual policy-makers conference of the National Council on US-Arab Relations.

The question in Iraq is not "if the US succeeds - it has failed by every single measure that you can think of," said Obaid, private security and energy advisor to Saudi Ambassador to Washington Prince Turki Al Faisal.

1. The Saudis think it's Iran's fault?
No surprise there.

4. Those words sound very familiar. Kerry-Feingold Iraq withdrawal debate
where 13 senators stood for dealing with the REALITY of Iraq.

This is all your fault. No one else, and it will go down in history as the absolute worst chapter in American history. I only hope future generations will learn from you and your war mongering enablers and thieves and condemn anyone who tries to follow your disasterous example.

5. I'm not sure about "the worst chapter" but still. . .
there was a time when I didn't want this war to go swimmingly because I knew PNAC had 7 countries on its list and if we "won" Iraq, Bush would go after others.

And for that I feel some guilt because I never wanted this kind of suffering.

It makes my heart sick to hear of the hell we have wrought.
