He must have had a hard time as a child. It is pretty much certain that his family did not pronounce it that way before it was a slang word. But with the "h" like in the name Boeheim today it is likely to be pronounced bay. However, Jim Boeheim needs no special assistance on his bio. Bay-heim is how it is pronounced. If someone pronounced it phonetically he wouldn't quake in his boots like Boner does.
