Democrats receive better marks than Republicans from veteran's organizations

Take a look at the ratings of senators by the Disabled Veterans of America:

Not a single Democrat was rated anything less than 60%, but almost half the Republicans were rated 50% or lower.

The IAVA (Iraq and Afghanistan Veterans of America Action Fund) gives John Kerry (just as a fer instance) a 'B'; Mike DeWine (just as another fer instance) is rated an impressive 'D+'.

...our soldiers, sailors, air service personnel, marines, or coast guards, whether actively serving or veterans, OTHER than as props for their sleazy jingoism.

They want the chest-swelling music and the eye-watering sentiment and all that happy horseshit but when it comes down to actually paying the real costs of using military force, they're somewhere else altogether. Golfing in Scotland, probably.

Anyone who doesn't understand the contract that I and every other American enters into with these men and women when they take their service oath, should NEVER be elected to public office.

It ain't a complicated contract, either, even though it's not written down anywhere. It's just this:

They agree to give up X months of their lives to go wherever they're needed and do some of the shittiest, toughest, most soul-destroying work imaginable for us, no matter what it costs them, including THEIR LIVES.

In return, the FUCKING LEAST WE CAN DO is make sure they're paid decently, their families are looked after properly, they can count on the best medical care, and a decent burial.

Oh, yeah, I forgot the other important thing we're responsible for: We promise not to send them in harm's way without a damnfuckinggood reason, and if we do have to, they get the best damn equipment and training available.

That's all. It ain't rocket science, but anyone who doesn't get it is not fit to serve in public office. Period.
