Saddam Sentenced? America Yawns. More Boring Than Kerry's Botched Joke |
|
and when the GOP and the Mediawhores do their darnedest to make an elaborate GOP campaign event out of this for themselves... it will be an obvious political ploy with no relevance to voters lives.

1. The bush monarchy's pre-emptive strikes are coming back to haunt them |

Didn't it occur to them how it would look annoucing the verdict two days before the election? So let's give them a dose of their own medicine--let's deflate the story as the hopelessey cynical and desparate ploy that it is!

2. I don't think that it will be boring. I think it will blow up in their face |

They are going to spin the death sentance of Saddam as a victory and justification for the US plan of invasion and occupation. They say that this will happen around 2AM EST in the US, but by the time that most of us wake up for the Sunday talk shows 10AM, the Iraqis will have been rioting in the streets and engaging in a full-on civil war and attacking our troops for about seven hours or so. I think that the pictures we will see when we wake up will not be of victory parades in Baghdad, but of even more violence and complete chaos. Have you noticed that the past two days' death toll for US soldiers and marines is on par to surpass October. I believe that this will backfire and be the final nail in the GOP coffin. Rummy will be gone before we can impeach him with Cheney and Bush next March.

The G.O.P. also miscalculated about the sudden drop in gas prices. There's a thread around here someplace that contains a poll (Zogby?), but it was amazing that something like 70% of the electorate concluded that gas prices were being manipulated for political purposes.
This administration has accomplished one thing, if nothing else, they've made cynics of 2/3 of the population. I, like you, don't think the Saddam verdict will have quite the bang they're expecting.
