Senators: If you will not vote NO for cloture then vote Yes for Alito.
Senators:

A yes vote for cloture and a No vote for confirmation means jack shit. If your going to sell out your principles for DLC money and defecate on the constitution at least be honest and vote Yes for Alito as well.

Stop hiding behind this wall of "Well I don't like this guy and I think he is terrible but I'm not going to do anything about it." Your just being cowards.

Be honest with yourself, you want this guy there! You want a pro-corporate stooge on the Supreme Court to appease your corporate masters, so if your going to go for it then go all the way.

This kind of garbage is why we are seen as a weak party which doesn't 'stand for anything' in so many moderates minds. This is why we are tagged with the label of how both parties are the same.

1. It means no. Some Dems don't think filibustering something that
will fail is a good use of time. It will fail. So vote against it and get the news back to Abramoff, spygate, WMD-gate, Niger Yellowcake, election reforms, health care, Bush phony drug plan, Katrina investigation, etc.

It is a valid choice.

Not because alito does not make us barf with fear. But because Bush will have the appointment. So it is already lost.

2. Thanks for the dose of pessimism
Some of us are more optimistic. I, for one, would rather be guided by hope than by fear (paraphrasing someone important...).

I don't believe my Senators, from New Jersey, are in danger of voting 'yes' for Alito or for cloture. However, that has not stopped me from calling them, pretty much every day, and making sure they know that, as their constituent, I want them against Alito with as much force as they can muster. It didn't stop me from, yesterday, calling Sen. Kerry's office to *thank him* for showing a spine. I wasn't stopped from calling Sen. Reid's and Sen. Durbin's offices and telling their staff that, even though I wasn't either one's constituent, I wanted the Senate Minority Leadership to get behind this and whip the party into line because, damnit, this is important.

So, if you feel that this is "already lost" then, yes, go slink into a cave and pretend that everything will be all right. Some of the rest of us, however, prefer to at least go down fighting.

4. Glad to help
We all need a pick-me-up every now and then. I mean, I'm not being unrealistic about this. I know the chances of being able to sustain this are slim. But long odds are better than no odds at all, and I'd rather fight to try and make it happen than throw up my hands in defeat.

5. "I'm going to vote FOR Alito the day before I vote AGAINST him"
That's what they are saying, IMO.
