Is there anything we can do about it? If so, we'd better start NOW.

ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox and AP Defy Conyer's Request For Poll Data

The theft of American elections is a media issue
by Andi Novick, Northeast Citizens for Responsible Media
October 31, 2006

The loss of our right to vote (or have it counted) is a media issue which is why you are all getting this email. I've talked a lot about the effects of media ownership consolidation on the destruction of democracy by permitting a few corporations to fail to report the essential information we need to be a self-governing people. Not only does the mainstream media refuse to investigate and report on the impossible discrepancies between the 'official' count and the exit polls, but they are actively complicit in this fraud. ABC, CBS, NBC, CNN, Fox and the AP own the exit polls and have defied John Conyers' request for the raw data, keeping that data secreted from even qualified independent researchers.

We are all trying to take optimism from the lead democrats have in the polls going into the election. Keep in mind that they had these leads in 2002, when the Republicans got themselves total control, and they had even greater promise going into the 2004 elections. If you are still not convinced of the massive fraud that is going on, you can look at my 'cliff notes' version about the theft, which I wrote thinking people might read a few pages as opposed to an entire book (http://www.freepress.org/departments/display/16/2006/18... ) .

Exit polls have historically been seen as the gold standard of reliability and are still considered as such everywhere in the world, except here. . . . (snip)

1. It is very important, but somehow people tend to think Repubs won't sink so low
Not sure how you counter a MSM refusal to share exit poll data in a country where we allow votes to be counted on a computer with source code no election official is allowed to look at or know how it works.

The best hope is to gain a majority in the House, and let Conyers send over a specially addressed subpoena to each of the MSM outlets to turn over their exit poll data as part of a congressional investigation.

10. My mom's own words: "I refuse to think we've sunk that low"
She won't even look into the possibility that the elections are being stolen because she refuses to be thought of as gullible. She'd rather continue in denial than believe she was ever that naive to trust them. I think she speaks for a lot of Americans, and no, she's not Repub; in fact, she's voted Dem as long as I can remember.

11. Denial
Thanks for this, electron_blue, it sums up very nicely what we are up against as we make the case of votes being stolen.

They'd rather continue in denial than believe they were ever naive enough to trust that Pubs would ever sink so low.

Or as I put it:

Since they were caught being so stupid, denial now seems to be reasonable. Like I said, you put it very nicely.

12. I don't know what to do about this. I can't remember when I first switched,
when I first even considered that a significant amount of fraud occurred. I am pretty sure it happened about the time I realized how closely Cheney was tied to most of the voting machines. That alone is a massive conflict of interest. The rest follows with a little imagination, me thinks. Frankly, what party would be that noble if given direct access to most of the voting. Who would refuse that? I doubt even the Dems would. This is a huge problem for the U.S.

13. I like the way you think.
What group of office holders wouldn't turn down the opportunity to know how an election was gonna turn out?

We've had discussions about whether or not the dems were in cahoots; maybe being promised a piece of the pie right from the start? Of course, if that were the case, the dems got double-crossed now, didn't they? Pubs have won for the last 12 years in a row.

If it were true, it wouldn't surprise me that the dems got double-crossed, look at who they are dealing with. But the lack of attention dems have officially given to the matter has been cause for concern. And that concern leads right back into the dicussion of: Were the dems in cahoots? If they were in cahoots, they sure as hell would avoid the whole matter, now wouldn't they?

Whatever..... we need to get away from voting on the computers. Did you know there are a few bills in front of congress right now that would make federal elections take place with hand counted paper ballots?

Lets all work to get that bill passed starting Nov. 8.

5. I used to wonder if the Arkansas Project/Scaife crew would go after Pelosi or Murtha first.
Now I'm thinking Conyers may need to be their top target. Pelosi & Murtha just want to see the country run right. Conyers is actually out to find criminals. They threaten the Right's goals; Conyers is actually dangerous to them personally.

19. Very good post--thank you. I had read about this
somewhere today. Makes my blood boil. Many good comments on here. One thing that HAS to happen if we take the Congress, is Dems in office have to be accountable. We ,the people, need representation. We pay for everything with our tax money.I think they have forgotten this. Congress has become too distanced from the people. We cannot sit back and expect everything to be taken care of. We need to demand it over and over ,loudly, or vote out those who do not comply. I would like to see the lobbyists given a one way ticket to nowhere for starters. I've lived a long time and would like to see this crap turned around. I know nothing is ever perfect, but the way things stand now, it is an utter disgrace. Too many greedy pigs in both parties.Would be nice , if we could get rid of earmarks forever.Put it into the law.Seems to me as if they should be renamed "the deceivers". Having said that, I probably have the best Representative of any--Peter DeFazio. A well known man who is working for Ned Lamont--also worked for Swietzer in Montana once asked me if I knew how lucky we are to have Peter. We need more like him.
