MSNBC saying 6 Dems kill fillibuster (Biden, Akaka, and Dorgan are
against fillibuster, plus Byrd, Johnson, and Nelson voting for Alito)

http://msnbc.msn.com/id/11058352

<snip>Sen. Joseph Biden of Delaware, said Friday that prospects for a successful filibuster were dim and he doesn’t support the idea.

“A filibuster, I think, is not likely to occur,” Biden told CBS’ “The Early Show.” “But who knows, one man can generate a filibuster.”

Sens. Daniel Akaka of Hawaii and Byron Dorgan of North Dakota made it clear Thursday night after a second day of floor debate on Alito that they would not support a filibuster, even though Akaka was going to vote against the nominee and Dorgan was still undecided.<snip>

My count says we are not dead yet as 2 GOP votes (Chaffee and Snow) are possible.

8. Even his crime at New Orleans is now working for Shrub:
Landrieu is bending over backwards for him to get federal help for LA. I must say, Shrub, you are a pathetic lucky piece of human waste you are.

3. It’s our right and our responsibility to oppose him vigorously
“It’s our right and our responsibility to oppose him vigorously and to fight against this radical upending of the Supreme Court.”
John Kerry

Yes, it is a very politiciany statement - but it really captures how I feel.

On another note - I think some aides are beginning to recognize my voice... should I continue to call??

4. Dorgan is usually on the side of the good. Whatzup with him on this?
Dirgan has usually been on the right side of issues, and often has been out front of otehr Dems on issues like media reform and globalization issues.

So why is he wimping out now?

6. Because They're Democrats
Wimping Out is the one thing they're actually good at. Why are you all surprised? It's their modus operandi.

5. I hope Biden is not under the impression
That he has a chance of being the nominee for the Dem's in '08 - his chances are going from slim to none to cold day in hell with this betrayal of basic party principles. What a complete ass he is.

That doesn't sound to me like he's going to vote FOR CLOTURE!! It just sounds like he's skeptical about the fillibuster and may not vote AGAINST cloture!

13. My read too
Also, wasn't he overseas yesterday - monitoring elections. This sounds more like a comment any Senator would have made yesterday morning - compare to Durbin's yesterday comment. Durbin was NEVER against a filibuster but thought it unlikely.

Biden's comment sounds like he doesn't know Kerry and Kennedy are initiating one.

I think there is more to this.
