58 percent of white evangelical Protestants say Bush made the right decision invading Iraq
http://www.alertnet.org/thenews/newsdesk/N03392215.htm

<snip>A poll published last week by the Pew Research Center found that 58 percent of white evangelical Protestants surveyed felt the United States made the right decision in using force in Iraq to oust Saddam Hussein, below the 71 percent in a previous poll in September.

1. So I take it there is a lot of mental illness and low I.Q.s in the
white evangelical Protestant community?

And unlike Kerry, I will NOT apologize.

6. This what I don't understand about the fundies.
If they truly believed the Bible, wouldn't they be aligned with the Democrats instead of the Republicans? Republicans stand for money and greed, Democrats stand for the common good. Doesn't make sense to me.

10. It's a matter of agenda
Most fundimentals couldn't give a flying slop about the poor. Evangelical teaching now is all about how God rewards the faithful with riches, good looks, health and power. They have catch phrases like "name it and claim it" that are based on a couple Bible verses about "binding on earth is bound in Heaven -- loose on Earth is loosed in Heaven". Basically they think anything they demand of God they will get if they have enough faith. Poor, sick, ugly people just lack faith or are outright unrepentent sinners as far as evangelicals are concerned. Some even go so far as to claim poverty and illness are punishments from God.

And yes, I know it's twisted.

7. WOW - I'm stunned that 42% have turned on Bush re: Iraq.
When it comes to the fundimental crowd I'd expect the still with Bush numbers to be in the 90's not 58%!

21. Evangelicals /= Fundamentalists
Fundamentalists are a kind of evangelical, and they're probably all included in that 58 percent. since about 40 percent of evangelicals vote Democratic every time, not much has changed.

Welcome to evangelical politics. This is why Republicans are always trying to suppress black evangelical votes, but are hoping white evangelicals aren't turned away by the recent sex scandals. While the evangelical left is doing a better job at communicating its position these days, most white evangelicals are still supportive of Bush, somehow.

14. This clearly demonstrates how these people abhor "free thinking."
Why they hate public education, books, and any issue in which consideration and thoght is required. They seek opportunities to do as they are told, how to think. Very scary.

20. 58% don't feel compassion for fellow humans
Or is it that they don't even view Iraqis as humans? How would they feel if they were bombed continuously for years?
