That Hussein will be convicted is a foregone conclusion. So if it's announced tomorrow that he's guilty, and sentenced to death, how will this affect our election on Tuesday?

It goes without saying that Bush will make a speech telling us how this despicable character has been brought to justice. (As an aside, I can't wait until our despicable pResident is brought to justice.) But does anyone believe this will change Tuesday's outcome?

We know that Fox News and other media whores will play it to the fullest, but as little regard I have for the intelligence of the American public, I can't see this having any significant impact on Tuesday.

Does anyone see anything I'm not seeing in this planned distraction?

If Saddam gets the death sentence, there will be extreme Sunni Arab vs. Shia Arab violence.

My roommate is Turkish, and she says that the vengeance of the Sunnis will be great. She says that they'll forget the Sunnis who Saddam killed, raped and tortured, and will focus on the Shia.

The only question is whether the violence will break out in time for it to be all over the news.

My guess is that the curfew will not be lifted until Wednesday.

But I also agree with you on one thing. This probably won't make an iota of difference. Everyone knows that Hussein will be found guilty and be sentenced to death. Anything else will be a surprise.

This is something I've come to believe is true. A vote for Bush is not a good example of this as many (if not most of here) believe that both his elections were stolen.

However, Ronald Reagan's elections were not stolen (as far as we know) yet the majority of people voted for this amiable imbecile -- twice.

Can you imagine the outroar if Saddam was aquitted? Bush would have to arrest the entire jury and torture them into changing their votes -- which he would happily do if it proved necessary.
