Poll question: 2008 Presidential Straw Poll
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 02:54 PM by DemocratSinceBirth
If you don't like my choices please feel free to start your own poll.

This is based on my analysis of candidates most likely to run.

on edit- added Russ Feingold... My bad for excluding him...

1. What's your criteria of putting BO first?
Is he the favorite?

3. I Don't Really Have A Favorite...
I'm a pragmatist... I'll support the candidate I think is most likely to win a general election.

America could do a lot worse than Barack Obama...

12. I think most DUers will have enough sense to read the entire poll before voting.
(Pssst... this isn't a scientific poll. :hide: )

4. Why are Clark and Feingold not in this poll?
Interesting - The favorites of DU are not present. Who do you want to push.

Of course my analysis could be flawed...

Russ Feingold was an oversight...

13. But will leaving Clark off your poll accomplish this?
I can respect you not wanting to see Clark run. We all have different opinions in a democracy. But omiting him from the poll is kind of silly.

24. I know people in Clark's inner circle, they think most likely he will run
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 03:16 PM by Tom Rinaldo
I'm not blowing smoke with this post, it is factually accurate on both counts. The honest truth is Clark has not made a final decision yet, but many of those who are in contact with Clark the most think that he will run. He decided not to decide until after the midterms. Take that for whatever it is worth to you.

28. I commented above in slightly more detail...
What Clark does say for the record at this point, and I heard him say this two weeks ago in New Hampshire, is that he hasn't said that he won't run.

7. Not critiquing your poll choices, but do you honestly think that Clark & Gore
won't run? I truly haven't devoted much time to 2008 but assumed we'd see those two names.

32. I think Clark has given enough signals he'd like to run
Think it over. He should be on the list

I am supporting Kerry myself, so I am not being partisan in this opinion about Clark. I think his activities have been very pre-candidate WesPac is a very active political action committee.

14. I Really Don't See Either Running...
And if you assume they aren't it makes sense to confine your poll to those that are running...

I also would not be surprised if Barack Obama doesn't run.

In that case I see it coming down to John Edwards and HRC and John Edwards pulling the upset...

Of course I am willing to entertain the notion I'm all wet...

I can't vote among this crowd yet. None of them impress me so much that I'd want to commit to any of them.

PS: If I had to pick amongt this crowd, I'd pick Feingold.

30. if it was strictly on merits not pragmatics, it would be Conyers plus
whoever he wants.

He has consistently stood up for us and told the truth.

On pragmatics, it would have to be Edwards and/or Gore since they are from the South, or someone with even more fire in their belly from down there.

35. RFK Jr knows better than that.
Any Kennedy who even thinks about running for President will meet the same fate as his dad and uncle did. Possibly his cousin "John-John" as well, as rumor has it he was considering a political future.

Bobby can serve the people better now, with his radio show, and excellent writing, such as the Rolling Stone article on election fraud, than he could in a coffin.

As long as the Bush Crime Family exists, no Kennedy will be President again.

39. Some Democrats are anti-corruption, open government Democrats.
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 06:51 PM by blm
So, of course we support Kerry. Who else has accomplished one HALF of what Kerry has done to expose government corruption?

I don't understand why more people don't read the congressional records to learn about candidates and lawmakers. So, we all have things we don't understand, I guess.
