Corruption and Hypocrisy OVERLOAD
Edited on Sat Nov-04-06 05:52 PM by berni_mccoy
A common practice of law firms in defending their clients and hiding the truth is to, when asked for paperwork that could prove guilt, provide that paperwork in the midst of a mountain of unrelated paperwork. Give the investigating attorney EVERY FILE from the office. What they asked for is in there, but they are going to have to dig for it, which could take longer than the investigating team has to prove its case.

And that's what it seems like the Republicans have done. They have flooded the public with so many stories of corruption, scandal and hypocrisy that the public is now having a tough time discerning what is really important. Really important stories, such as the fact that the republicans have lost the War on Terror, that they have sacrificed our national security for political gain (which has resulted in TREASONOUS acts) and that our very own nuclear secrets could very well be in the hands of those who would use nukes against us, these stories are getting lost because of outed gay politicians or religious leaders.

Don't get me wrong. These stories are important, as they show how shallow and fake these crooks really are. But most of us already know that. That's just opening the eyes of the remaining 33% who, until recently, still supported the republicans. I'm grateful their base is eroding, but we must also keep our eye on the important stuff because it's going to come back and haunt us.

Just like Saddam came back to haunt us. Saddam was the friend of the right, originally working with Rumsfeld, Cheney and many others when they were in the Reagan administration. Just like Osama Bin Laden who was supported, again by the early careers of many of the dysfunctional chicken hawks in the current administration. Saddam and OBL were monsters created by the people who are now in charge. What monsters have they created that will come back to haunt us 10 years from now. Lord only knows, but I'm fairly certain that there are many more and they have many more powerful weapons available to them because of this administration.

The current republican Congress has been the enablers, the rubber stampers, the lap-dogs of the administration. And it turns out that they are a bunch of fake, pandering, shallow imps, who don't believe a thing they say they support and who are more than willing to use abortion, gay marriage and flag burning as carrot sticks for their extremist christo-fascist base. And it turns out that almost every single one of them has been corrupted. The question is, has their base been overwhelmed by the stories of corruption and hypocrisy so much so that they will not see the real evidence before election day. I hope they are digging for it, but something tells me they won't have time to parse all the paperwork before they enter the voting booth.

1. It shouldn't be that way: we elected them, we pay them. We aren't the enemy.
Everything you said is 100% correct. There should be a college course about the corruption of the right over the past 26 years. On Tuesday people will send a message that this is not ok.
