I am sick of the naysayers
the people who refuse to have hope, who call it for the other team before the game is over. And the naysayers are always the ones sitting on the sidelines, never the ones out there doing hours and hours of lit dropping, canvassing, driving. They consider giving the world their opinion on a blog to be work. I am sick of it. :puke:

People who spread defeatism and negativity instead of working for positive change may as well join the other team.

3. Sometimes negativity can be a good thing
When someone tells me I can't do something that kind of makes me want to show them that I can.

Its the challenge.

Haven't seen to many negative threads lately.

6. I'm exhausted.
I was out all day lit dropping for my candidate. Out all day yesterday too. I come home and check my email, which includes a google alert that picks up blogs mentioning my candidate. They've both called the race for the incumbent Republican. I am willing to bet my life that neither of these people has ever volunteered 5 minutes for the campaign or contributed to it. Their role is to sit back and be cynical. I wish I hadn't looked at their totally speculative, negative blogs. It just pisses me off.

9. Try not to let it get to you if possible. And get some rest too
I think we are going to do OK Tuesday. Thanks for all your hard work too. Really.

4. I can understand a level of pessimism, given the history, yet refuse
to be deterred from working to re-establish Democratic control in the Congress and a Democratic administration in '08. We vote on Tuesday. Bring a friend. :kick:

7. I Wish I WERE More Optimistic
I am out there working. I have walked almost every Saturday for a local candidate. I have made phone calls. I have done this, despite a job which has in the past months began demanding more of time - up to 60 hours per week and the hospitilization of my step-father. So I am working for positive change, even with a life that was crazy without the election.

But I still don't feel very good about the way things are going. There is the probability that the machines are rigged, but I don't let that stop me, because they may not be and I'd hate to give up for what may be a false concern.

My big concern is this, I do believe we will probably make great strides Tuesday and pick up seats. But I am not confident it will be ENOUGH to regain the House and Senate. The Republicans have no humility. Even though they lost seats, they will use their extremely well-tuned spin machine to claim a victory because they still have control. And the horrible Bush policies will continue unchecked. The media will jump on the band wagon saying how pathetic the Dems are that they couldn't re-take both houses with things the way they are and blame it all on Kerry's stupid comment.

But I keep fighting, because I hope I am wrong. And I believe in some of my candidates, who deserve my help.

10. I am optimistic but I am also angry

Why are so few people willing to volunteer? I could have used 10 more people today. Or 20 more and then everyone would have finished sooner. People don't want to waste their time if they think a candidate can't win. Its a self fulfilling prophecy. The difference between winning and losing a close race may actually depend on the number of people who are willing to work their butts off because they want change. You don't have to have certainty, just hope. And then there are the people who want to volunteer for an hour. And they don't want to do this or that, and blah blah blah. Do people have ANY idea what the candidate and his/her family go through? Several months of 15 hour days...

Edit: I am lucky to be in WI where we are not really too worried about election tampering, at least so far, except in Milwaukee.

12. "People who spread...negativity"
er...your post has a somewhat negative feel to it. Of course, you have as much right as any to spend your time giving your opinion on a blog or a forum.

My 2 cents: don't respond. A response feeds the negativity, and gives the topic a kick to keep it in discussion. Don't click on, and don't read, anything you don't want to encourage.

Not to say you shouldn't get your opinion out there, of course! There are more constructive threads to debate candidates and issues, and there would be more if the less constructive threads were allowed to sink.

14. Today I was referring to blogs rather than DU
although I've certainly seen a lot of defeatism here too.
