The Haggard Board did precisely the right thing!!!! |
|
They canned him on the facts.
He committed adultery (apparently) He took Meth (apparently)
A pastor who does these things at the very least loses the confidence of the flock
The fact that it was gay sex that he paid for anf the fact that he is a hypocrite on the issue of gay marriage is really secondary but unimportant. If it had been straight sex and meth the same out come would have occured,
To those who think that the Church leaders should not have done this out of protecting the money comiing into the church or because they wanted it for themseleves are that they wer being very unforgiving in taking this decisive, appropriate action.....
I can onlyassume you think it makes more sense for the church to cover-up and allow Haggard to remain in the pulpit. I can only ask if you were critical of the GOP's decsion to sit on the Foley Scandal or the multiple ardchdioceses for sweeping their problems under the carpet.
The point is that it is diengenuous to criticize well meaning and prudent clergy for doing the appropriate thing.
Some of you seem to be saying that the church has no right to criticize either the larger culture or apparently its own leaders either.
I take no glee in seeing him removed. I will not gloat either... he got what he deserved though. Is there mercy for Haggard...sure...but he traded his right to lead the NAE and his church for drugs and adultery.
