Seems suspicious to me but I'm sure theres got to be a perfectly logical political reason.

Any ideas?

3. it would no longer be effective...
They only work as long as the majority of Americans believe that the Bushies are actually serious about terrorism. Whether it's through specifically seeing the correlation between bad news for Bush and an immediate raising of the terror level, or just a general sense that it's been used for political purposes, the majority of Americans have figured out that the whole Orange Alert thing was a load of BS.

With his approval rating in the dumps and the Dems finally (and rightfully) outpolling the Repubs on terrorism and national security, they know that the vast majority of Americans would see any more terror warnings as just more fake BS.

6. Yes, it's too old to be effective
The only thing something like that would have done was raise questions that would have been embarrassing for the pukes.

7. Didn't they do away with the color-coded threat levels?
They were beginning to be an embarrassment, after being used to save W's ass so many times.

10. Because last time it was "FEAR! FEAR! FEAR!"
This time it's "FEAR! FEAR! FEAR! (but look how well we've protected you.)"
