It. Is. Not. Over. Until. They. Vote.
I don't care who has said what about how they're voting. All politicians change their positions, sometimes with astonishing rapidity, once they decide it's advantageous to them. That's what the whole 'flip-flopping' thing is about.

The point of keeping the pressure on is to CHANGE THEIR MINDS. If everyone had already come out and said they would support a filibuster, we wouldn't need to do this, would we?

Defeat is not going to suck any less because you were the first to predict it. It really won't. So do what can be done and hope for the best.

Jeez. You gotta be able to keep hope alive for more than a day, folks.

C ya,

The Plaid Adder

3. Just e-mailed the "Alito 8". Everyone should flood their offices
with outrage over not only their unwillingness to support a filibuster but to openly undermine it. Maybe we can shame them into growing a spine.

Are they 8 democrats getting in the way of the filibuster? Please post, and we will get on them immediately.
Thank-you.

7. Hi homey, thanks for the refreshing splash.....
of hope. I guess many senators are back in their districts and better able to hear their constituents' concerns.

Who knows what pangs of conscience these lawmakers may be made to feel. I say keep up the pressure til the last second of the last minute.

As of now, no one has offered a better idea.

9. Democrats.com has a list of the "Alito 48"
the 48 senators who might support a filibuster. Need to flood their offices with calls and e-mails. Since the dems aren't mounting a crucial PR campaign to build support, we have to do it for them.

10. Absolutely agreed
It's no wonder we don't control anything if we can only manage to be outraged for 24 hours.

We're about to lose the Supreme Court (if it was ever ours to begin with), folks. I for one don't give a shit about how the votes are falling. If you like how a Senator is voting, thank him/her. If you don't, by god, tell them.

Our words of outrage may not change any minds, but our silence sure as hell isn't going to either.

Excellent! Very well put. DUers need to use their energy where it is going to help, if they really WANT the filibuster, that is!

Thanks, plaid adder!

25. LOL, well said
I think some people just want to be on the record as being "right" when we lose this thing, as if that will make it hurt less.

Personally I'd rather stick to my guns and fight the whole way.

26. That was a quote by plaid adder.
I agree with the sentiments wholeheartedly.

Some people may just be disappointed from the disappointments of 2000 and 2004, and have just given up.

For those people: remember Reid's Senate shut down and the glorious blocking of the Patriot Act at the last minute! The tide is turning. We've got to support our courageous Dems, fighting for us when they are so badly outnumbered.

Of course there is maneuvering. Of course. But, all TPA said in spades! Quit getting depressed because you can't predict the future. Quit getting all excited because the future might be great or horrible. Get on with calling them and faxing them and all that because it is not over until Monday.

They are so 'over' Alito. Screw the media. As Aaron Brown just said in an interview...the truth doesn't matter.

30. People. Change. Their. Minds.
And in democracy it can happen at the last minute, because citizens tend to be busy with their own lives and don't realize what is happening until the last minute. Then they get mad and make themselves heard. Even here at DU.
