There's an old Jewish tale that goes something like this: a baby cries when he/she is born because since conception Hashem (the Orthodox way of refering to God) has personally taught him/her the Torah for nine months. When the baby is born, all the knowledge that he/she has learned disappears and its loss causes the baby to cry. Sometimes there is some residual left over, which gives a baby great wisdom in the face of evil.
