CAPITAL SO CORRUPT-FBI Willing To Go Undercover In Congress If Necessary

FBI willing to go undercover in Congress if necessary
By Greg Gordon
McClatchy Newspapers

WASHINGTON - The new chief of the FBI's Criminal Division, which is swamped with public corruption cases, says the bureau is ramping up its ability to catch crooked politicians and might run an undercover sting on Congress.

Assistant FBI Director James Burrus called the bureau's public corruption program "a sleeping giant that we've awoken," and predicted the nation will see continued emphasis in that area "for many, many, many years to come."

So much evidence of wrongdoing is surfacing in the nation's capital that Burrus recently committed to adding a fourth 15- to 20-member public corruption squad to the FBI's Washington field office.

In the past year, former Republican Reps. Duke Cunningham and Bob Ney have pleaded guilty to corruption charges. FBI agents are investigating about a dozen other members of Congress, including as many as three senators. The Justice Department also is expected to begin seeking indictments soon after a massive FBI investigation of the Alaska Legislature.

6. Considering the FBI's success with 9/11, Congress shouldn't worry
Drugging, whoring, and influence peddling are safe as long as the DC office of the FBI is in charge.

If you really want to weed out criminals in Congress, try Phoenix or Minneapolis FBI: they were the branch offices who could have stopped 9/11 if the Washington headquarters hadn't stymied them.

If they just pursued the crap that EVERYONE IN WASHINGTON
ALREADY KNOWS ABOUT, they could be busy until they all retired!

Also to Ney's and DeLay's defense funds.

If the FBI is investigating folks, I hope they go after Don Young. We keep hearing rumors up here that he is being investigated, but unfortunately nothing has broken before the election.

Rogue, do you get KTUU down there? Here's some good news from the Benson campaign regarding a possible debate tomorrow night.

Friends:

There is a possibility that there may be a debate between Diane and D. Young.

Now, here are the details:

Steve McDonald (of KTUU) called and let us know that Channel 2 is trying to put together a mini debate of 15 minutes to be carried LIVE on Monday November 6, 2006 during the 6 o’clock News Hour. I confirmed that Diane will participate in whatever they are able to put together.

If Don shows up, it will be a 15 minute “Debate” and if he doesn’t then Diane will have 5-7 minutes of PRIMETIME STATEWIDE coverage on Channel 2 @ about 6:00pm.

Make sure you watch and tell everyone you know to tune in.

HE CAN RUN BUT HE CAN'T HIDE.

11. Odd that he would announce a pending "sting." While it's true they've
successfully exposed a number of important Bushite pigsties, I'll be in a "show me" mood for some time about any agency that Dick Cheney or Donald Rumsfeld has had any power over. It also seems odd that the FBI suddenly gets hot about Congressional crime with the Democrats about to take over at least the House. It's possible that honest FBI agents feel emboldened BECAUSE of the turn in the tide. On the other hand, what a weapon the FBI could be for the Bush Junta--with their pervasive spying apparatus--to keep Democrats who are trying to investigate or impeach them in line, and to cower and silence potential whistleblowers. How successful have the Bush Junta purges of these agences been? Can we trust these agencies? I think we should remain quite skeptical and be especially careful about taking FBI investigations and DoJ prosecutions at face value. (I'm mean, LOOK at who heads the DoJ--a Bush Cartel toady, and "torture memo" writer!) The crimes of the Bush Junta have been immense, and the lesser criminals may have bits and pieces of the bigger pictures. It would be typical fascist strategy to intimidate and frighten the lesser criminals, so that they don't dare point the finger. The top Bushites will sacrifice anyone to save their own skins. We just need to be aware of all this, and always try to look deeper into these investigations, and read between the lines. The FBI was in a fracas with Congress recently about invading Congressional offices and seizing docs (members of Congress are protected under the Constitution from any such invasion and seizure--for good reason--and I believe the matter remains unresolved. This is a rather dangerous business, the FBI "investigating" Congress. Stay alert!

27. Remember ABSCAM?
Rita Jenrette (wife of John Jenrette the Democratic Representative from SC) went on Donahue and talked about having sex with her husband on the steps of the capitol building.

Jenrette went to jail, and Rita went on to pose for Playboy and had some part in a B movie.

ABSCAM - FBI sting operation that caught public officials taking bribes.
