Butterflies in my stomach - Arkansas Senators. |
|
I live in Arkansas and am doing my part, and both Mark Pryor and Blanche Lincoln have stepped forward to state that they will vote No on the Alito nomination. Kudos to them for that.
Yet Mr. Pryor has decidedly stated that he will NOT support a filibuster (ARRRRRRGHH!!!!!) and Lincoln is straddling the fence at the moment, her floor statement while somewhat strong, does not indicate her stance, and the people at her office don't know.
A No vote isn't enough for me, I'm 25, this appointment will affect me for the rest of my life.
The sports bar comparison on C-Span's WJ earlier this week was correct, I need a drink. :scared:

1. Remind Pryor's office that he spoke at the King memorial about fighting |
|
for what's right. He promised to do that.

3. I just called Pryor's office again and told them they as a woman, I |
|
would no longer feel comfortable supporting Sen. Pryor if he will not support the filibuster. Pryor is no 'prochoice' senator, but at least, he has allowed that there are certain circumstances where abortion must remain legal. Keep calling and get your friends and family to call as well. Here's his phone numbers:

6. Hey, I emailed both your Senators.... |
|
And I literally begged them to filibuster. I'm from next door in Tennessee, so it is useless to email my own.

The woman told me he will vote no on Alito an against the filibuster. I asked her what was the point in doing that - if you won't support a filibuster you might as well vote yes in the first place. She was polite, but really wanted me off the phone.

8. We need to 'bliz' him with comments about why he has to either |
|
support the filibuster or abstain.
