2. Plus, it's easier to record it once and let auto dialers do their thing |

since word on the internets is that they were having some trouble getting live volunteers. It's easier to pay for it to be done then to try and find bodies willing to do it for free for them this time around.

3. that's my take and why GOTV is essential |
|
there is too much attention focussed on the electronic voting machines for the Repugs to risk pulling another scam unless the margins are so close they can get away with it. Looks very much like the gap is just too big for them to risk it, particularly in such a heated political environment. The polls are showing the distinct possibility of both houses going blue, the generals are not happy, the Saddam verdict (which was part of the "surprise") did not work and the Repugs have been best by scandal after scandal.
Their only remaining tactics are voter intimidation and creating confusion. You are bang on the money - the hack is too damned risky and they know it.

4. It's just one prong in a multi-prong attack |
|
Let's see... from the KKKarl Rove playbook...
First we get as many divisive issues on the ballot as possible to motivate the evangelical base.
Then we get as much of the MSM to "catapult the propaganda" as we can, to confuse and mislead the weak of mind.
Then we smear the Democratic opponents as much as possible in the campaign.
Then we try to get as many black and minority voters off the voting roles as we can.
Then we try our bag of dirty tricks, the robo-calls, the "poll locations have changed" flyers, and all the rest.
Finally, we do a few computer vote hacks...
It's the only way we can win, given that 60 percent of the people don't agree with us.
