All the Senators' lines are busy!
Edited on Fri Jan-27-06 05:01 PM by Alexander
I'm in Arizona - my Senators are hopeless, though I'm toying with the idea of maybe calling McCain.

I've called Nelson, Salazar, Chafee, Byrd, Dorgan, Lieberman, Dodd and Johnson. I only got through to Johnson, though the staffer was very polite.

Note: I mentioned that we should NOT oppose Alito because of partisanship, but because of the separation of powers, and because I felt Alito didn't really believe in such a thing. This may help some of you, it may not.

I'll keep calling, but I keep getting an "all circuits are busy" message. I don't know who is calling these guys, but my guess is it isn't a bunch of hardcore conservatives.

Edit: I called Dodd and Lieberman's offices (my former Senators) - their lines are tied up, too.

2. I just left work a little while ago
and was able to fax several senators. If you can get to a fax machine that might be the way to go.

4. District Offices Contact Information
http://www.visi.com/juan/congress/index.html
Gives you quick access to DC numbers and to district office numbers. So if you get tired of busy signals or full voice mailboxes, here's another route.

7. Thanks
Thanks, newyawker99. I became an activist in 2004 when I joined the Kerry campaign as a Ward Leader. And have been calling senators/representatives on many issues since. I have been reading DU for sometime, and it feels good to join a like-minded community.
