Few Americans favor abstinence-only sex education

Most Americans, regardless of their political leanings, favor comprehensive sex education in schools over abstinence-only programs, researchers reported Monday.

1. Most Americans have been teenagers.

They know how hormones can override common sense.

2. The only thing even close to resembling sex ed at my school

was one five-minute film presentation on how not to get VD/STD, given by a football coach in PE class who looked on it more as a joke than anything educational.

3. And those who do believe in abstinence

only believe in it for everyone else! Sex education should begin no later than 5th or 6th grade. In my school we got it our senior year - a bit too late for many of us!

You have to love the title-"Few Americans favor abstinence"-heh- no kidding! We have been a sex-obessed culture forever...
