To: paudio

Bartlett is naive and stupid.

A Democrat House will refuse to fund the Iraq war (which is what they did in the 70's - refused to fund the Vietnam war) and we'll hav to leave.

Our military men and women will have died in VAIN over there. For nothing.

And the jihadists will laugh and call us cowards. This is what the Democrats will do to us.

And what country will ever trust our word again.

Ummmmm, Hello....they are already dying in vain for a war we never needed. And OOOOOHHH someone will call us a coward. Big fucking deal.

And no country will ever trust our word again??? Hell, that is NOW because of bush and his regime.

Beat these assholes today. Get us in power and take away their death funds. Jeebus, is life a video game to them??

4. Some times it would be best it they taught all of WW2 and WW1 history
One really get sick of how we won both as if no one else was with us but it is so well a belief in this country that all our wars seem to be judged on this belief that we lost more men and won both those wars. It maybe our sides would not have won WW2 with out Am. but it is also true with out Russia it may not have been won also. People just do not look at how it really was. Now they put different type wars in that generation and think the same way. It is the old apples and orange thing and it just does not work. BUT you are un-american if you dare to say it.

6. There's one huge missing piece to that equation: a draft
As far as I know, WW I and II weren't fought with an all-volunteer army. They put a metal pot on your head, a gun in your hand, and shipped your sorry ass into the fray.

Far be it from the current 101st Keyboard Brigade to put their own doughy bodies into jeopardy, however. It's just much, much easier to play Splinter Cell and post on Free Republic down in mommy and daddy's basement. Let someone else's kid get killed.

If a draft were in place, we'd all see what these armchair commandoes are really all about.

7. When the subject of the draft starts making the news
and is discussed in congress, free republic members will get in touch with their liberal side and we'll get new members. War is just fucking hunky dory as long as someone else's blood is being shed.

9. You know I was for the draft to go but I feel I was wrong.
Our 'founders' wanted a citizen army and I see their point now. It really takes war away from the elite and into the hands of the people who fight it and families that give their children. I have gone right around on this one.

5. It's typical! Brainwashed and no clue. They watch Faux News only!
I guess he wants more to die in vain.

If you're sinking your money into a company and the company is sinking and your shares are losing value do you invest MORE so your initial investment wasn't in VAIN?

Besides that's an insult to us vets. Whether the war is right or wrong, serving your country is never "in vain." But, the logic of continuing down a wrong path because you already drove many miles was "in vain" is very flawed. Lessons can be learned from lost wars.

Sometimes we lose and we have to be good losers. Wars are not a sporting event.

Being a "coward" is letting your government take your rights and privacy away unlawfully in the interests of being "safe."

"Any society that would give up a little liberty to gain a little security will deserve neither and lose both." -----Benjamin Franklin
