It's the Women Stupid! - See Chimpanzee Behavior |
|
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 10:54 AM by blue2helix
Our closest human relative is the Bonobo Chimpanzee (almost extinct by the way).
On the surface, Bonobo society seems patriarchal, with a dominant alpha chimp who fights for leadership status and reproductive rights with the females.
On closer inspection, however, it was discovered that when you had a particularly brutal or incompetent alpha chimp, the females took matters into their own hands and instead of waiting for another chimp to take over, they gang busted the alpha male out of his office in brutal fashion and instilled their own leader (lucky guy...I think).
With Bush feeding our women's fathers, husbands and children into the bloody maw of his personal war for profit, and with the ongoing accumulation of GOP scandals (especially pedophilia) I predict that many traditional conservative women will turn their backs on this current brutal and corrupt leadership structure.
The secret weapon this election will be our precious women. They are Nature's check and balance to male chimp idiocy, I don't think that the polls have taken this into account statistically.

** They are Nature's check and balance to male chimp idiocy, **
I found that line very funny. If I had my druthers, all men would have to take a two year time out of politics and let the women take over. Once those two years were past, then anyone could run again. Whaddaya wanna bet we'd vote to keep most of the women?
And I've never got a satisfactory answer to a couple fo questions.
1) why does the iraqi parliament have to have 25% women if our own congress has less than 10% women?
2) how did two muslim countries (pakistan and indonesia) elect women leaders when the US has never even had a woman speaker of the house, if we're so enlightened.
Never could figure those out. I'm going with, it's the fundies fault!

7. They Also reward good males with..... |
|
You do realize that female Bonobos also reward the good male chimps with social non-reproductive sex. They are the only animal observed, other than humans to use sex as a social function : > (It's true!).

I thought about it but didn't research it and couldn't confirm. Very cool though, doesn't surprise me at all.

When you witness your wife give birth to your first child, it changes your perspective a bit! Take it from an alpha chimp of three!

You are a male chimp idiot if the penis and testicles come attached to your idiocy. :)

13. Our society doesn't seem like a patriarchy though |
|
Not changing anytime soon either. I don't see many women fighting against it. They just want to join in and have the same rights as men. Nothing in there about the destruction of the very system which oppresses you. Nobody seems to up for that one.
I'm for it, but then I can't stand power, and have none of it to lose.

16. There is a lot wrong with society but.. |
|
Voting is a start.
I hope you voted. The best way to tackle big problems is by taking little steps, like climbing a mountain, otherwise you'll just stare at the big ole mountain and get discouraged as you stand there paralyzed by the spinning wheels in your head.

17. I don't find not climbing a mountain |
|
to be a big problem.
Creating a big problem out of not being able to climb a mountain, now that's a problem.
Sort of like building this entity where we have to vote in order to keep our rights. Doesn't seem to make a lot of sense.
