Why this Filibuster might just happen...
- The timing was perfect.
- We have the whole weekend to contact those who will decide this.
- Its a weekend so noone's on Capitol Hill to make talking point soundbytes to be pounded into our heads.

These brave Senators who have led this charge cannot do it alone,
they never could have.
But they have given us our chance.
To make our Voices heard
All Together

It will be up to us, the People, to decide if we succeed.

Contact all of our Senators.
They cannot deny the Will of the People.

1. The thing I hate the most..
..is that, by automagically blowing off supporting a filibuster just because they're up for reelection in a (so called) "red state" proves to me that they're more concerned with their career and not what is best for the country..

This is *exactly* what is wrong with the political process, today. Politicians are more concerned with their self image and careers rather then doing the right thing.

Just *once*, I'd like to see someone stand up and say that they're running to be able to do what is best for the country and that they won't run again if they fail in the first term. We need more individuals truly interested in working for us and less politicians in Washington.

4. How hard is it to understand
that we need dems to take back the Senate, and in a state like Nebraska if we don't have Nelson we lose that seat? The best thing for the country is for the dems to gain control of at least a part of one branch of government.

2. it would have been better if they had stayed here and hammered
out the votes before running around elsewhere. In some ways, its a win-win for the leaders on this. If he is fillibustered and loses, they win. If it doesn't work, they can say they tried. THe only one I admire in this fiasco is Ted Kennedy. He's never forgotten what it means to be a democrat.

3. WE do not need 41 to Support the filibuster, just 41 NOT to block it!
I think that we need to stress again that "WE" do not need to get 41 votes FOR a filibuster. Only 41 votes either for OR abstaining.
"THEY" are the ones who HAVE to get 60.... and they might not be able to do it. Some Republicans might abstain from blocking the filibuster AND nuking.
