S.C. GOV turned away at polls!!! **UPDATE**
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 12:35 PM by whereismyparty
Just reported on CNN...Insufficient voter ID.

UPDATE:

Apparently, he had to get a new voter registration card onsite.

Tony Harris, the commentator, was laughing his head off. It was pretty humourous.

6. Probably a bullshit PR stunt to prove how "fair" the new law is
and "secure" your vote supposedly is.

30. Didn't look like it.
The press corp was there and he couldn't be filmed by them casting a ballot for himself. He looked embarrassed. He had his back to the camera, frantically making phone calls. It was great!

42. Absolutely, Insufficient ID Bullshyte. They know who he is.
The point is to know who the voter is, not just the mere production of paperwork. If they know the person by sight, they don't need the ID. (which is why traditionally IDs were not needed, as communities were tight enough to know each other).

14. This guy is a genius. Light burns eyes of SC Gov.
I'm sure that he will win reelection quite easily in SC.

COLUMBIA, S.C. - Gov. Mark Sanford burned his eyes under the bright stage lights at a groundbreaking ceremony Sunday night and was sidelined yesterday, on the last day of the campaign, his wife said.

Sanford, a Republican seeking reelection, was taking eye drops and hoped to rejoin his campaign later yesterday, Jenny Sanford said.

Extremely bright light can dry out the surface of the eye and cause the equivalent of a sunburn on the cornea, said Steve Masone, president-elect of the South Carolina Optometric Association. The cornea usually recovers, he said, although a severe burn can be permanent.- AP

without having it overridden by his own Repug Congress.
And he vetoed a whole lot of them.
A real winner, he is.

You would think they would recognize the guy, eh?

I agree with the above poster, it sounds like a set-up to show that, "Hey, nothing to see here, just a little oopsie and then it all gets fixed okey-dokey."

Gov. Mark Sanford was turned away at his home precinct in Charleston County on Tuesday morning because he did not have his voter registration card.

The poll manager at Sullivan’s Island Elementary School said the governor was not allowed to vote.

Sanford’s wife, Jenny, cast her ballot, but the governor had to got to the county’s voter registration office to get a new card.

While he was standing in line to vote, Sanford said this is his last campaign, win or lose.
