Hey George, can you hear it? That incessant ringing?
That's us, George, we're finally moving. That sound you keep hearing in the background is thousands of phones ringing throughout Washington from every state in the Union. Maybe you've convinced yourself that there truly was no opposition and that taking over America was going to be easy. Well, I got news for you, Bud, that sound you hear is your opposition calling. Those people in the Senate who are members of the Democratic party are merely being recruited, they are not your opposition. You want to hear the sound of your own failure, go pick up a phone. The opposition is calling.

We may not be able to convince some of those Democrats to join our cause and stop your Judge. That is of little consequence anyway. What matters is that we have finally started moving and we have the high ground. Don't believe me, listen to the ringing. That's the sound of a new day dawning, George and at risk of sounding corny, "never send to know for whom the bell tolls; it tolls for thee".

Sincerely,
We

3. I hope you're right. When those kids at Georgetown stood up and turned
their backs on Gonzales the other day I really started to think that maybe, maybe, maybe we can and will prevail.

I always heard that good conquers bad always. It just takes work. As the Faux pResident would say, it takes hard work.

5. Good doesn't always conquer bad...
Sometimes "Bad" just dies of old age.

I think we needed this, some of us anyway who are still worried even after all the calls etc.

I would suggest that George move out of our way cause if he is still there when we finally get the big move on he is not going to be very happy.

13. What's the etymology of the phrase "incessant ringing?"
Takes me straight into a Walter Benjamin nightmare -- with the fallen household deities, and all. Seems like it is a common phrase. Maybe I'm crazy.

18. That incessant ringing that George hears? The heart of democracy...
that he tried to rip out and kill.

For your reading enjoyment, I submit excerpts from Edgar Allan Poe's "The Tell-Tale Heart," as re-told by George W. Bush:

Why will you say that I am mad? The disease had sharpened my senses --not destroyed --not dulled them.

For many minutes, the heart beat on with a muffled sound. This, however, did not vex me; it would not be heard through the wall. At length it ceased. The old man was dead.

First of all I dismembered the corpse. I cut off the head and the arms and the legs.

I fancied a ringing in my ears: ... The ringing became more distinct: --It continued and became more distinct: I talked more freely to get rid of the feeling: but it continued and gained definiteness --until, at length, I found that the noise was not within my ears. {Why will you say that I am mad?}

No doubt I now grew very pale; --but I talked more fluently, and with a heightened voice. Yet the sound increased --and what could I do? It was a low, dull, quick sound

I talked more quickly --more vehemently; but the noise steadily increased.

The noise steadily increased. Oh God! what could I do? I foamed --I raved --I swore! {Why will you say that I am mad?}

The noise arose over all and continually increased. It grew louder --louder --louder!

They heard! --they suspected! --they knew! --they were making a mockery of my horror! {Why will you say that I am mad?}

I admit the deed! ... It is the beating of his hideous heart!

Just in case, a note to mods: This story was published or written in 1843, and the complete text is all over the internet, so I think there should be no issue with copyright and having more than four paragraphs.

21. Does George have a conscience?
I would think that somewhere in that twisted shell of a man there would be at least some miserly shred of a conscience. Maybe it's only big enough to plague his dreams but I have to believe he has one.
