Sorry Senator Byrd. You sure picked the wrong day. Up yours!! |
|
I've been out all day collecting signature cards for my friend and congressional candidate, John Russell. I'm tired, and just wanted to get the mail, have a cocktail and relax, because we'll be back getting cards tomorrow and Sunday too.
I noticed I had a letter from you in the mail. What could this be?
A goddamned fundraising letter for your campaign! The day after you announced that you were going to support Alito!!! Had I received this letter earlier in the week, I would have sent you a check. But I would have stopped payment on it yesterday. What I will do however is use your post-paid envelope, and send my reply to you. UP YOURS!
I've always enjoyed your eloquent speeches on the Senate floor. But now they ring hollow. Just maybe, you've finally become too addled with age or dementia to think clearly. Maybe it's time to hang it up. With the deaths of all the coal miners in your state this week, you're going to vote to approve a fascist to the SCOTUS, who believes they have no recourse for their deaths.
And take me off your mailing list for the future. You'll save a lot of postage.

1. Hey, don't feel bad. I got one from Cornyn (R) this week, the |
|
senator who never responds to anyone! He has a nerve.:grr: But I agree; Byrd is a major disappointment. He should start by taking off that pin of the Constitution he wears; on him it's now worthless. And I'll happily eat my words if he proves me wrong.

5. Cornyn doesn't even have an email addy that WesPac could |
|
get for the people to encourage him to vote their wishes. At least Kay Bailey H. had a published email addy. Cornyn is a POS.

2. i requested off his list, too |
|
he thinks he can innoculate himself against gop attack ads by doing this vote, but he's going to lose a lot of grassroots supporters and funds. he'll never appease the types who can't say his name without saying 'kkk' in the same breath. he should focus more on rallying his base. but i really don't care at this point.

the only guy that had the balls to stand up and object to giving the President unquestionable war powers; and Senators Biden and Clinton stole the remainder of his time. No wonder Bush thinks he's above the law.
Has your Senator lost his mind. This is truly the most disappointing day of my political-aware life.

6. I appealed to Byrd in this way... |
|
I am not from WV, but I told Senator Byrd that it doesn't matter if he votes for Alito or not -- the Christian Conservatives will target him anyway. So he might as well vote his conscious and do the right thing for all Americans. Don't give up on him. Give him a reason to change his mind.

8. Disappointed - Absolutely. Shocked - No. |
|
Why not? Byrd comes from a state of Bible thumpers and gun toters. They've voted Republican in the past two Nat'l elections and he needs to curry favor. So, no, I'm not shocked, I just realize he's catering to his base where they believe that everything can be solved by either more Jesus or more guns.

I wrote to him as well. I used to live in WV and he's been a sort of political hero to me, you know, him carrying the constitution in his pocket all the time and such and he's given some very inspiring speeches. I told him I had always trusted him to protect the constitution and today I feel that trust has been betrayed. :(

15. Not really GOP-lite........... |
|
In fact, he's a strict constitutionalist. However, I find it hard to believe that Byrd is ignoring the dissentious voices coming from WV. THis leads me to believe his office is being spammed by right-wing nutjobs claiming to be constituents. I have talked to many folks, and none have given any support to Alito.
Also, I think that Byrd has bought the hype. His mentioning of Mrs Alito's tears clinches it. It comes as no surprise to me that he has latched onto the GOP sympathy train that is the MSM. I used to give him more credit for common sense, but I may have to rethink my position on that now.

24. He indicated, in his concession speech, that he was, in fact, |
|
responding to the calls of his constituency and they were overwhelmingly corruption cult voices. One of those awful times when you have to choose between the calls of your voters and the good of the nation. He is a senator, not a HOR member. This time he had to let political triangulation choose for him and that kept him from doing the right thing. One good outcome-in being repeatedly battered and bloodied, we are developing a tough, no bullshit team of patriots--not something to be sniffed at in the coming revolution.

11. I am very disappointed in Byrd |
|
We heartily supported him when he spoke up against the illegal invasion of Iraq, for the separation of powers and the advice and CONSENT of the Senate. I think this is a purely political move on his part supporting a man who clearly will intepret the Constitution in a partisan manner.
Byrd may find he will face more challenges in his re-election than he counted on.

14. When will they ever learn- |
|
There is no appeasing the cult of corruption? They will smile in your face while they knife you in the back. Offer to share the bread of peace with them and they bite off your whole arm, all the while whining at you for being upset and charging you with obstructionism for not letting them chew, gnaw, and digest you completely.
The disease that afflicts these corruptocannibals holds them in such thrall that they cannot even conceive of their own allegiance to all that this country has fought against throughout most of its history.
All the scrooges, the evil spirits, the Grinches that our collective childhoods have taught us against is what they worship and they don't even see it!
Don't give in!

16. If Byrd loses re-election... |
|
He should lose while fighting for his beliefs! Voting for Alito will not appease his critics, nothing ever will! This excuse justifying his vote Yes because of "how rancorous the debate has become", is the biggest load of crap. Next year nobody will care that Mrs Alito cried, but Judge Alito could be on the court making bad decisions for 30 years!
In the end if Senator Byrd goes down, I hope he will go down FIGHTING FOR DEMOCRATIC PRINCIPLES!!!!

So much for a government by the people, for the people and of the people.
Byrd must've forgotten that part of the CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES THAT HE CARRIES IN HIS RICH ASS POCKET!! I suggest we take that away from him being it seems to me that he DOES NOT REALLY READ IT! :argh:
Byrd: Gone you are from being one I have supported for too long. You put that nail in your coffin all by your greedy little self-serving self, you two-bit phoney born again PIG.

I called Byrd's Senate office about the Alito nomination but obviously there aren't enough folks like you and me (West Virginians, that is) making our voices heard. Funny thing is, those same people who supposedly wrote him all those letters pushing for Alito wouldn't vote for a Democrat if you put a shotgun to their heads. Come November they'll pull the lever for a repuke no matter how much Byrd concedes to them.
Oh -- and that county where all those miners died -- did you know they voted some 70% or so for Bush? That just shows you these folks are simply voting however their preacher tells them to vote. Most of them probably couldn't even name two of the SC justices.
BTW, has anyone heard how Jay Rockefeller will vote?
Just call me another disappointed Dem here in WV.
