FOR THOSE EXPERIENCING PROBLEMS VOTING: ACTION >>
Edited on Tue Nov-07-06 01:55 PM by helderheid
Friends,

Reports of machine problems and other voting issues are coming in from
around the country. Please, if you have something to report from your
observations and/or from when you go to vote, let us know at
observer@verifiedvoting.org (and use the Transparency Scorecard - Local
version for any extended report). And, of course, use the 1-888-SAV-VOTE
hotline especially for machine issues, and the 1-866-OUR-VOTE hotline
for everything else.

Many thanks -
Pam

4. MORE
IF YOU SEE PROBLEMS AT THE POLLS, CALL OUR HOTLINE IMMEDIATELY AT 1-866-MYVOTE1.

And once you've voted, click below to take our quick online survey (three minutes) and tell us about your voting experience!

http://www.commoncause.org/VoterSurvey2006

The more we know about what happened on Election Day, the more we'll be armed with the information we need to push for change.

Even if your voting experience was OK, we know in many places across the country there will be long lines, malfunctioning voting machines and other obstacles for citizens trying to vote.

That's why Common Cause continues to push for reforms to improve our democracy, including:

*
Federal legislation to require a paper trail and audits of voting machines, so we no longer are forced to rely on secret software to count our votes.
*
State and federal laws to increase voter turnout by easing unnecessary hurdles for eligible voters.
*
New laws that require election officials to behave in a non-partisan, ethical, and accountable manner.

Take the survey as soon as you've voted. Then pass this email along to friends, family, and coworkers.

We look forward to working with you as we make the case for overhauling our broken election system. But first, go to our quick survey and tell us how it went today.

Thank you.

Chellie Pingree
President

P.S. Don't forget, you can report any problems on our voters' phone line 1-866-MyVote1.
