We shoulda' stuck with the old lever machines here in CT!
*sigh*

How convenient for Joe. Perhaps it even helps to explain some of his determination and resolve to stay in a race he lost. He knew he'd do better once all those new optical scan machines were online. Okay, sure, idle speculation and tin-foil-hat-ism, but can you blame me? Show me any race where any of these amazing peculiarities and coincidences work in favor of the democratic party -- the real one, not the Joe For Joe party. Just one.

The good news is, it's not even 2:00 pm yet...why that's good news, I don't know. But I'll take it anywhere I can get it today!

2. Is this your first run with them?
I thought the primaries were the old lever machines? Is it the whole state?

3. I like the old lever machines, they had that straight party line option
and they made that supremely satisfying ka-chunk sound when you were finished.

The bad part is that the lines to vote are way way way longer when they're used.

4. We still have the old machines in my town. How good is was to hear
those big old ka-chunks of the levers.

5. Half the state still has old machines.
Today was the first election with anything more than a couple of trial machines in 2004. 50% of the machines are new, but no touch screens, afaik. That's not much consolation in a race such as this one. I thought my town still was using some of the old ones, but apparently went all opti scan. I'm not working this polls this election, so I wasn't aware of the full shift. Last muni election I worked not too long ago was still lever machines.

7. Still have levers here in NYC...
...these things must be a hundred years old, but in all the
years I've been voting I have never doubted that my vote would
be counted properly.
