Cumulative effect of hate radio, fire and brimstone approaches,
and endless lies - superaggressive behavior (chocking at the polls, robocalls, overt or covert cheating, Mehlman or Limbaugh or Coulter spewing) - there becomes nothing except the win. There are no ideas, there is no progress - indeed, no decency at all. It is what the right has become. What we cannot do is, no matter what happens - become them...either gloat if (when) we win (well, maybe for a millisecond - and, yes, we do work with the laws to uncover the great harms done in secret over the last six years), or become consumed by hatred and go over the edge in defeat (we use the media as much as we can, the legal system, the internet - our collective voices, and work within the laws). I am proud to be liberal, progressive, a Democrat, a bleeding heart, of how I feel about my fellow citizen (of course I get angry, and occasionally let it overcome me.....). And I voted. and I hope.

1. I too am proud to be liberal,...
a bleeding heart, and a progressive... but I will intentionally leave out 'Democrat'.. The Dems IMO are not liberal, or progressive. They are certainly better than Rethugs, but they too have lost their soul!...

My vote was just for the lesser of 2 evils.

3. You are so right
no matter the outcome today, we are all accountable for our own behavior.

4. "there becomes nothing except the win" - makes grading freshman
essays a real chore. You would not believe the tone many college freshmen take in their writing these days. Of course, little or nothing to back it up, but they just dare you to question them.

5. Yours is the second post I've read
about the tone of student papers. Another DUer said she retired because she could not stand to read one more hate-filled paper that simply tears apart anything/anyone they don't agree with.

My mother sends me the most hate-filled crap & she doesn't even see it as hate-filled. When I call her out on people like Ann Coulter, Rush Limbaugh & their hate-spew, her response is always the same: "You liberals have no sense of humor." Yes, mom, I'm sure if a liberal said that all conservatives should be killed you would find it humorous. :eyes:

I look back & realize that I have lived during some of the best of America's years.

6. maybe you should rewrite one of the emails and replace
"liberals" with "conservatives" and see what she thinks, then.

"I look back & realize that I have lived during some of the best of America's years."

I sincerely hope not, but if things don't turn around soon, I'll have to agree with you. (But don't worry - I won't try to verbally smash you into the ground!)
