What Bush Has Wrought
A little over six years ago I married a wonderful woman.
This woman barely knew who the President was, had NO idea who her Congressperson was, or what party the two senators from the State represented.
Today she reads Democratic Underground daily, shouts at Tucker Carlson (who looks even MORE stupid in the tie than he did either in the bow tie or the open-necked shirt) and Joe Scarborough, listens to Keith Olbermann with me and made me print out a map to our polling place (we just moved here) even though its only a third of a mile away & involves exactly one turn.
Wish I could claim credit for her turnaround, but I'm afraid that honor belongs to another man: George W. Bush. She so utterly detests that man she makes me look like a Bush Family retainer. He has truly been a disaster for the Republican Party.
(p.s. - an honorable mention should go to Russ Feingold for turning my wife into a solid Liberal. His campaign against Clear Channel Communications & mega-cartel ownership of media when we lived in Wisconsin did much to focus her anger into constructive channels.)

1. Good for her!
I'm sure she's not alone. But hey, that's the great thing about W: in the end, he's an equal opportunity disaster.

2. I am another.
Before 2000, I had no idea what a midterm election was.

Then came bush. And thanks to him, I woke up. And thanks to DU, I learned from the learned.

Bravo! I love to see this happening. We have many years to recover and reverse.

3. My wife was wonderful also...
She recently passed away. But, in our years of marriage, I have never seen her so mad about anyone as she was to George W. When they came to her hospital room to take to surgery, the head Dr asked her the date, which she answered. He asked her name, of course she answered that right! He asked her what 2+2 was. Again, a correct answer. Lastly, he asked who was the president. She said "No ONE!" and was quite adamant about it. The Dr was confused, so he asked again who the president was. She said "No One!"

Now he didn't know what to do or say. One of the nurses knew Teresa didn't like resident shrubs, so she said, "Teresa, who lives in the White House?" Teresa spat out "Bush!". I thought that was hilarious!

I told her I loved her and they took her to surgery. A couple days later, she had complications and passed away, but I will always remember the spunk she displayed. And you never called GW president when she was around.

I had the pleasure of being her husband for 29yrs and 10 months. I miss her greatly.

4. I'm glad you're here with us lldu
but you shouldn't make me cry like that. Unfortunately, I know exactly how you feel. It's not easy, but being here helps a lot.

6. Sounds like you had a great lady
as a wife. Condolences on your loss, but just think of her looking down on this day, giving her blessings to what's happening.

And WELCOME TO DU!! :hi:
