Question about phone calls - serious post.
My wife received a call a few hours ago from the Republican party in our area reminding her to vote - they said records showed she hadn't yet voted (which she hadn't).

She's registered as a republican but hasn't voted that way in years.

Does the party get a chance to see who has voted at midday and then call them? When did this start to happen?

1. In our area, candidates can have poll watchers mark off the names of
supporters who vote, so that the candidates can call supporters who haven't voted yet, and remind them. Runners pick up the lists several times a day.

3. I think every place seems to have their own rules.
I would think they would be state wide but I am not sure they are.

4. Poll lists are available to the public
And Republicans take advantage of that in many precincts. Seems creepy but perfectly legal.

5. Creepy or desperate? Like I said, wifey is registered as a republican.
It might be one call they'd like to take back.

6. Democrats take advantage, too!
There is nothing creepy about it and it is transparent by design. It enables GOTV efforts to concentrate on those who have NOT voted and thus utilize valuable volunteer time for efficeintly.
