What if we get answering machines? |
|
I am wondering if the Senators will respond more favorably to answering machines or real live telephone calls. The Senators I've called have closed their offices for the day.
I'm also trying to get some friends of mine to help out, so are the offices open on the weekends? Will I be able to talk to a staffer?
By the way - I've already called the offices of Tim Johnson (D-SD), Joe Lieberman (D-CT), and Ben Nelson (D-NE).
Nelson's staffer interrupted me when I mentioned it was "about Alito". He asked "Do you want the Senator to support the filibuster?" Now, that's quite an assumption to make, meaning they are probably getting swamped with calls from people like us.
I said yes, I wanted him to support it, and oppose Alito.
He said "Thanks, I'll pass on your message, we've been getting lots of calls about this".
Johnson and Lieberman's staffers were polite and said they'd pass on my message, as well.

Then send then an email and a fax, just in case they erase all the messages.
