75. Exit Polls
Probably been done to death but beware exit polls as they can be misleading (UK Election in 1992 was called as hung whereas major won outright)

That said, from this side of the pond it is looking good...

79. Elections are run by the states
And, as long as they fall within some very broad Constitutional requirements, the states can pretty much do them as they want, which means there are vastly different poll times. To the extent that there has been standardization (the idea of registration, etc.) that has come from the parties.

The concept was that the Federal government shouldn't be trusted to run its own elections. I can certainly sympathize, but it's hard to imagine how they could cock it up worse than many of the states have.

80. Thanks for that...
... and I concur fully with your last point. It has certainly appeared in recent elections (at least to an outsider looking in) that it is as much the systems as the voting that is at fault, let's face it.

exit polls everywhere in the world are accurate almost 100% of the time within a very small margin, except for those places where fraud took place.
(See USA 2004 and 2002).

78. I can't get excited.. we get repeatedly screwed by exit polls since Bush took over.
You know, suddenly, since Bush and his Diebold pals took over, exit polls aren't accurate. Who woulda thought that after decades of exit polls being spot on, suddenly, since Bush stole office.. they aren't good enough anymore. I hope it sticks.. I hope those bastards can't steal it again. Though I see that Cayahuga County in Ohio is having problems AGAIN...

I've been jilted by exit polls before, don't want to get burned again.

But when those numbers become real ones (and GOD, I hope they do!!!), then I'll break open the champaign! Keeping it on ice for now!
