Voting in VA
I stood out in the cold and rain for two hours handing out sample ballots for the democrats today. The turnout was quite heavy, especially considering the weather. For the first time (I've done this 3 times) the voting public THANKED us for being there. That was quite a surprise.

I'm guessing the turnout at the polling place where I was was at least 50/50 and for this very red area that's pretty damn good.

My toes are frozen but I'm happy I had some part in the election. Here's hoping Webb kicks allen's butt.

One man I offered a sample ballot to said "oh yeah, I'll support the terrorists....sure." He walked off and when he came out after voting said, "I voted Osama Bin Laden" ....to which I replied "Hey, have you guys caught him yet."

He hurried to his car, slammed the door and left.

2. My brother called me from Richmond..
He said his polling place was packed, and there were a lot of young voters there.

3. The republicans had children
handing out literature. I couldn't believe it. Kids out in the pouring rain, no umbrellas and handing out sample ballots and marriage amendment fliers.

I believe it was a higher Black turnout and elderly turnout than I saw in 2004.
